My thoughts are usually processed here although sometimes they makes sense other times they just dont!
However with everything Inshallah I hope to gain some benefit here as well as providing a platform for discussion and debate. So feel free to comment, discus and critises (Allah knows I’ve had lots of the latter but can always do with some more Inshallah).
Yearning for Allah has been kicked started by Ibn al Qayyim al Jawziyyah Rahimuallah, a greatly loved shiekh and renowned scholar. His works has greatly moved my heart and my zeal for Islam. Together with his teacher Ibn Taymiyyah, they have greatly affected my life and changed my whole outlook.
I pray Allah guides us all and makes us all mirrors to one another to help eachother attain that yearning and allow this to be fulfilled by that which our hearts desire. Meeting our Lord in the best of manner, with the purest of hearts and with a light soul. Ameen

Dear sister in Islam
I admire your passion and dedication to the deen and its ummah. May Allah increase your zeal and love for Islam, Allah and His Prophet salalhi alahi wa salam.
Helping the ummah can be done in many different facets, taking psychology is just one avenue. It would really depend on what you want to acheive at the end, what is your end goal in terms of akhirah career? If you want to help Muslim sisters then there are other ways you could go about it if taking psychology as a phd is a risk. Have you thought about social work, prison work, befriender, youth worker, teaching assistant (within adult/child disabilities)? It depends which country you are in, If you are in the UK I know of many organisations which you could try.
There may be one goal but many different paths to it. If you find one may be too difficult try to see if you can work out those difficulties, dont give up at the first hurdle, try another way to reach your destination. Let Allah be your inspiration, Quran be your support and take wisdom from our Rasul salalhi alahi wa salam.
This is very general advice, I hope it helps and I hope I can help you further.
Wassalam
