I always tell others not familiar with the region when they ask me “what is there in former Yugoslavia to offer the world?”, without hesitation I say, it’s people! That is the single greatest resource I have found here. It is not the tourism, industry, or nature, those are all good, but the people is what makes this area what it is and will be even more in the near future.
You might wonder where all this ‘talent’ is then? Well look around you. Half of Bosnia is keeping most of Western European and Scandinavian cities, offices and parks, clean, safe and cared for.
They may not be running the show, but in a way they are.
They are using the best equipment, chauffeuring the best cars, teaching the most elite kids, and cooking the finest meals. This beautiful water-scape is one of the prettiest rivers I’ve ever seen as it snakes through the countryside with its turquoise blue water and white rocks. It’s like a neck-tie on a suite making this beautiful countryside even more distinguished and unique. (commenting on the Soča River.)

If there is anything that countries in this region can gain form the West’s mistakes is that they should learn from their past. In all the rush for modernization and better things one should not be too busy to glance back at times, as painful as it might be, to where one came from and what sacrifices were made by others (regardless of their political motive) for them to be where they are today. These are really the things that prove a nation and a people’s character. Slovenia is well on that path and this exhibition will insure that we do not forget it.
