Federally Registered Candidate

Any Candidate must be a registered with the Federal Elections Commission prior to becoming a delegate with Unity08. This not only weeds out people who are not really serious, but it also helps the candidate comply with Federal Elections Law.

Why prior to becoming a delegate? I would like to put my name forward and I'm already a delegate.
That's cool that you would run, and I would support you, but if we're serious about winning the '08 election, we will need candidates that the public is already familiar with (i.e. Bloomberg, Ron Paul, Stephen Colbert, etc.). I can see you being more of a high ranking Party member though.

Granted I do want to weed out those who aren't serious, but we must understand that many of our Presidents weren't even candidates. Washington, Adams, Pierce, and a few others. Why couldn't we do the same in our convention?
P.S. I really don't trust the feds, so I wouldn't want to be registered in the Elections Commission.

FEC eligibility can come later.
I would encourage creation of a Prospective Candidate site where people interested in running can put themselves out there and gauge initial support, including the first 100 to sign a hard copy petition. There should also be a Unity*08 petition form for that purpose.
For myself, I would like to run if there is interest. Why would I run in Unity*08?
I believe in reforming our tax laws to end the filing of income taxes by most individuals, replacing it and the usual credits with an expanded business income tax where wages are not deductible but dependent support is creditable at $500 per month per dependent (refundable), with a minimum wage subject to tax at $10 per hour in addition to any credits (so no one pays their employees just with credits). There would also be credits for charitable contributions made in the employees name for education and social services to either public or private schools and social service agencies, a tuition credi, a capped mortgage interest credit and a health care/insurance credit. The dependent credit is high enough to discourage abortions, especially if matched by a similar state credit.
The reason I would run as a third party candidate with this position is that the Republicans think my plan is socialistic for the large dependent credit and the Democrats think it is conservative because I favor privatizing most government services and do not support abortion as a form of birth control.
The Libertarians and Greens have the same opinions, except they will add curse words to this description.
My point is, I would like to have someplace to post this that people will read it so I can gauge the likelihood of support among Unity*08 members.
