This Thursday, October 8th, we’ll be taking part in a benefit show at Lee’s Palace in Toronto to raise funds for our friend Ronnie Morris (controller.controller, Lioness, The Flowers of Hell). Ronnie suffered a series of serious medical issues earlier this year and he needs help with the extensive costs related to his recovery.
Dave Monks (Tokyo Police Club), FrETZ (members of METZ and Fresh Snow), The Flowers of Hell (featuring our own Chris McCann) and V ∆ N E S S ∆ (Lioness) will be playing sets. Sebastien Grainger will be DJ-ing.
We’ll be kicking off the night by joining some of our pals from controller.controller and The Two Koreas to play a few classic Mancunian cover tunes as the combo Hit The North!.
Please come out and support this cause, it’s going to be a fun night!
We’ll be playing a Toronto show at the Silver Dollar with our buds Dearly Beloved as they celebrate their new 7" and forthcoming European tour. Also on the bill are our old pals Pile High and Tooth. Should be a hot summer Saturday night in the city!
We’re finally back in action—just in time for Christmas! The legendary Dan Burke has signed us up for what is bound to be a wild holiday show at the Silver Dollar on Friday December 19th.
Billed as St. Nick’s XXXmas Show, the gig features Comet Control, “St. Nick” Flanagan with Wrong Hole, Uncut and Apeshit Simians. We’re really looking forward to this—it should be an epic way to kick into the holidays (ie: with a hangover and ringing ears).
Next Thursday we’ll be playing with Kestrels (Halifax) and New Armour at Smiling Buddha in Toronto. Kestrels are kicking off their summer tour and are celebrating the release of their new EP The Moon Is Smiling Our Way. Should be loud!
This Saturday we’re helping The Dying Arts celebrate their album release with a show at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. Also on the bill are Girls On Stilts and Pile High. Cover is $6. Should be a rocker!
We’re playing a show at the Bovine Sex Club in Toronto next week (Thursday May 8th) as part of CMW 2014. There are a bunch of excellent bands on the bill, including old pals The High Dials as well as Megafauna from Austin TX and classic rockers Open AIR from Calgary.
Great news to start 2014 as our track 'Stay Gold’ has been named to two very cool year end lists. First we got the news that the track came in at #54 on the CBC Radio 3 Top 103 Canadian songs of 2013. Then this week George Stroumboulopoulos rolled out his list of the best tracks of the year on The Strombo Show. His list has 'Stay Gold’ ranked at #36—amazing! We just wanted to extend a big thank you to everyone who had a hand in making those choices.
Currently the song is showing strong on the Radio 3 R3-30 where it has been charting for the last few weeks. Let’s keep it rolling!
In keeping with the spirit of the season, we’ve posted Thomas D'Arcy’s remix of ‘Thieves Watch’ for free download on our Bandcamp page. Go grab yourself a copy and tell your friends to do the same!
Just a quick note to tell you that we are now live on Twitter. Drop by and say ‘hello.’ We look forward to meeting you! We’ll also keep you informed with any and all band updates.
