FOUR CORNERS SCHOOLHOUSE EAST MONTPELIER VERMONT 05651
Much gratitude to all who came out on 11.15.25 from Vermont to Pennsylvania!
It was a pleasure to sculpt sound and share that space with all of you.
A recording is on the player below.
Until again.
Sound travels.
On November 15 2025, at the acoustically splendid Four Corners Schoolhouse in East Montpelier, Vermont starting around 6 pm: a series of four listening-centric compositions will be presented.
The first is : For Annea Lockwood and Alison Knowles by Pauline Oliveros.
I have wanted to try this piece since I first read: “Keep the next sound you hear in mind for at least the next half hour” in her (2013) Anthology of Text Scores.
This work will be performed upon amplified Vermont lilac roots, oscillators, and East Montpelier, Vermont Winter Soundscape.
The second is a work released in 2015 titled Mauerkrankheit which will be performed on cello with an Adamant, Vermont Spring Soundscape accompaniment.
My path to the cello began with making sound with anything available, then a period of percussion where everything had a sound, which lead to a deeper understanding of electric guitars and saxophones, evolved into a passion for amplifying microsounds, which eventually lead to use of percussive and bowing implements to create highly amplified microsounds with less traditional instruments such as border wall bollards, barbed wire fences, lost shrines and abandoned cattle tanks.
And from there I learned to apply those bowing techniques to viola and cello.
Expressively, the cello is an acoustically accurate representation of a bowed border wall or barbed-wire fence.

The third piece in the set is a newly composed work titled : East Montpelier.

Closing out the evening will be 4'33 by John Cage.
This work has been adapted for Four Corners Schoolhouse and East Montpelier Fall Soundscape (Live).
There is no charge for this performance but space may be limited based upon venue capacity.
Seating is optional.
