Founded in 1983 by Ray Mears, Woodlore was Britain’s first School of Wilderness Bushcraft. Born from humble beginnings, Woodlore pioneered the bushcraft revolution and continues to lead the way today. Ray’s vision was to provide others with the opportunity to step beyond survival training and really master the skills of traditional wilderness travel. This vision remains as strong as it ever was; at Woodlore our mission is to enable others to drink at the well of bushcraft, by providing the very best Education, Experience and Equipment.

Woodlore courses cover a wide range of topics; expertly taught they open up a world of possibilities. Designed to be immersive, they provide new insights into the natural world, develop self-confidence, dispel fear and encourage a positive mental attitude. Woodlore expeditions provide the opportunity to gain real trail experience in some of the most stunning landscapes on earth. Using the wilderness as a classroom, these journeys develop confidence, self-reliance and respect for the wild.

Born out of the requests of our customers, Ray Mears Bushcraft was established in 1990 to provide the very best clothing and equipment for wilderness travel and bush crafts. It’s no ordinary online shop - we only carry products which have been rigorously field tested by Ray Mears and the Woodlore Team. In our quest to make wilderness experiences accessible safely to all, Woodlore constantly explores, evaluates, designs and develops new products partnering with some of the best global outdoor brands.
