Comment on Final ’90s Countdown: Part Seventeen. by Chris B

Mike is right in saying that the series really developed as it went along into more of a bw era Zot! title and Watson’s artwork got better and more polished. There is a definite manga influence to it, it’s unfortunate that the collections are out of print as I imagine it would appeal to a young female demographic. Andi continues to produce mainly all ages comics, Gum Girl and Punycorn are well worth reading.
He did a little bit of writing for mainstream titles like Buffy and Namor as well.

2. The Big Two start moving in the direction of AI art, at first for backgrounds.
3. Marvel finds a paperback format cheaper per page than their Epic Collection line to compete with DC’s Finest.

Rights issues would probably make that unlikely.
“Before Marvel bought it, it was good. Not Valiant pre-Shooter being kicked out good, but good, which is to be expected given the writing talent involved. ”
I might give Ultraverse som edge over Valiant, because it didn’t look so samey-samey as valiant did.
“Prime, a Shazam!-esque comic about a young man who can turn into a grotesquely-overmuscled adult hero, was one I enjoyed”
Yeah, it was pretty good!
“until it turned out one of its original writers was a sex offender”
Yikes!
” But, eventually, the Ultraverse characters just stopped appearing, even though Marvel still owns them.”
They wanted the printing press! And why publish their own competition, I suppose!

They’re both alien women wearing armor carrying around stick weapons. Yeah, it’s a bit tenuous, but a lot closer than to the other Topaz.

Thanks! According to the Grand Comics Database the cover art for Action Comics no. 93 is by Wayne Boring and Stan Kaye, and the interior art on the “Christmas ‘Round the World” Superman story is by Ira Yarbrough and Stan Kaye, ghosting for Joe Shuster, and the story might be by Don C. Cameron, ghosting for Jerry Siegel.
The plot revolves around Superman reuniting refugees from all over the world with their families all, in the aftermath of WW II, and witnessing various ways of celebrating Christmas.
I wonder if DC will get around to printing a facsimile edition of Action Comics no. 93 by Christmas of 2026?

Also, who wrote it and who drew it?
