Hi, I’m leading the local planning team for the upcoming World IA Day event in Pittsburgh. We imagine you just might be in high demand at your own end of Pennsylvania this year (theme: “Design for Difference”) but we in Pittsburgh are interested in asking if you’d travel to speak at ours. Would this interest you? We have had a good, engaged, and sizable audience here for the past four years.
The event is still taking shape, but we are aiming for a morning keynote and an afternoon keynote, each 45 minutes; and 2 or 3 simultaneous morning workshops, all 90 minutes.
So, those are the roles we’re wondering if you’d be interested in. Please let me know if you’re up for traveling out to speak to us!

The first time a new fan tried to enter the field and got ejected, there would be anything from a heated argument to a lawsuit. Enforcement cannot happen without transparent communication.” – No, I don’t trust your conference without a Code of Conduct […]

Rather than repeat what others have said better, I recommend you read this part of Code of Conducts 101 (And the rest of it too). Thanks!

There are already laws and social norms. why have new ones? the lack of rationale sounds frightening

Just to point out that some of your links in that conversation just go to “Storify” rather than to any particular story…

If there is a step 3, it’s that you communicate to the industry what you did, why, and what you might do differently in the future.” […]
