Exciting news! The 5th WSO-GAINS-ESO Early Career Investigators Workshop will be held at the World Stroke Congress on October 22, 2025 from 1-4:30pm. The goal of the workshop is to connect early career investigators in stroke with each other, and also with experienced mentors from across the globe. Designed for early-career researchers across all disciplines, this workshop offers an invaluable chance to receive feedback on research, discuss challenges, and network with peers and mentors. Key topics include research career development, trial design, grant writing, and more – agenda attached. There is a clear need for young stroke researchers to build their networks and get support. With our partners, the WSO hopes to continue to grow the next generation of researchers in stroke. Full story

The Neuro-EM is a national EM training program of relevance to StrokeNet because it supports EM physicians in their first or second year of a faculty appointment (after residency or fellowship) and funds their research and career development for up 3 years. There is also a Pipeline Program that provides networking opportunities and grant writing training to EM senior residents, fellows, and first year faculty before they apply to be a scholar in future years. National Clinical Trials Day is observed on May 20 every year to mark the anniversary of the day in 1747 when James Lind conducted the first randomized clinical study. Today we take a moment to recognize the accomplishments of all the clinical research professionals involved in NIH StrokeNet, in public health, and in medicine by recognizing their efforts in clinical trials. It is also a day to express gratitude to clinical research experts for their contributions to the advancement of public health through their work. The goal is to make this a primary focus for international communication activities, meetings, discussions, and celebrations of clinical research over this period as well. We are extremely grateful for our thousands upon thousands of patients and StrokeNet participants who without their engagement this work would not be possible. The primary concern for StrokeNet is the safety of our patients or potential patients for our ongoing trials. The second concern is the safety of our own investigators and study team members. Finally, we also want to maintain, as much as possible, the integrity of the trials to potentially benefit patients and so that the data can be used to answer the questions that the trials intended. This latter point is critical for subjects in the trial and those with the specific problem in the future. However, immediate safety issues take priority over any formal processes in ongoing trials.
