Located near Harbortown and the Pinch District, Uptown is seeing growth with new developments and improvements to parks and streetscapes. Residents enjoy new homes as well as renovated 19th-century properties with proximity to Downtown restaurants and shopping.
Founded by Irish, Italian, Russian, Greek, and Jewish immigrants in the early 19th century, the Pinch District was Memphis’ first commercial district and neighborhood. Today, the Pinch is re-emerging as a commercial center and is home to new small businesses and larger developments like Bass Pro Outdoor World and the expanding St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
