Nathaniel Bacon, by T. Chambars.

Nathaniel Bacon, by T. Chambars.

Born on January 2, 1647, Nathaniel Bacon was an English merchant adventurer who emigrated to the Virginia Colony. He served on the Governor’s Council but later led Bacon’s Rebellion there. The Rebellion was briefly successful, but the rebel forces collapsed after Bacon’s death from dysentery. Read more about Nathaniel Bacon – First American Rebel.

 

Alexander Hamilton

Ute Chief Ouray

Chief Ouray, who was born near TaosNew Mexico, in about 1833, led the Tabeguache (Uncompahgre ) band of the Ute tribe in western Colorado in the 19th century. According to oral history passed down by Ute elders, he was born on a gloriously clear night when a magnificent display of meteor showers streaked across the black winter sky.
