Digital Historian, Medievalist, Educational Researcher
Kalani Craig, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, Department of History, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
I design digital tools and platforms that shape new historical methods, help faculty and students alike undertake collaborative research with those methods, and model ways to engage the public using those tools. As part of this broad mission, I have developed expertise in computational text analysis, network analysis, user-driven approaches to digital-history and digital-humanities tool-building, and community-engaged digital public history. From 2017 to 2024, I was Co-Director of the Institute for Digital Arts and Humanities at Indiana University-Bloomington. Prior to returning to the scholarly world, I spent ten years managing Web sites and the technical and creative people responsible for creating those Web sites.
