INESC TEC and SINTEF join forces in offshore energy structure health monitoring project
In early September, several INESC TEC research infrastructures welcomed researchers from SINTEF – one of Norway’s and the world’s most prominent R&D centres, with more than 70 years of experience and a vast repertoire on sea-related research activities. The main goal? To define a pilot project related to monitoring and maintenance systems for floating offshore energy structures.

Portugal won international computer science award for the first time – and the winner is an INESC TEC researcher
Miriam Seoane Santos, INESC TEC researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), was recognised by her contribution to the responsible development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems: she is the first Portuguese scientist to win the international ERCIM Cor Baayen Award, which rewards early-career researchers in the fields of computer science and applied mathematics - - never awarded to Portugal, since its creation in 1995.

At a time when Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become part of our daily lives, INESC TEC invites a broad reflection on identity, ethics and society in a technological world – asking what is the role of the Human in the age of AI? On 17 November, Casa da Música will host a discussion that seeks answers to this question - and many others - extending well beyond technology and engineering. Registrations are now open.

A solution designed to improve access to and efficiency in kidney transplantation - while enhancing patients’ quality of life and generating potential savings of up to €2M for every 100 patients in the healthcare sector - has earned a recognition at this year’s EARTO Awards. KEPsoft is among the winners in the Expected Impact category of the awards presented by EARTO, the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations. The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, 14 October, in Brussels.
