I want all of you readers to know I thought about this for a long time. This was the most difficult decision I’ve ever made in my online life, in my time as a political advocate. But I’ve made it.
For the time being, Animal Magnetism will be going on hiatus. Every post already up will remain up. I’m not shutting down the site. I’ll never give up the URL, which I’ve had for over 20 years. I will almost certainly pop in from time to time with big news, announcements, or just a rant that I can’t post elsewhere. But now, for the time being, regular weekly posts will cease.
Here’s why. Between writing for RedState and all that goes with that – radio spots, podcasts, and so on – and working on a political book I intend to have ready for publishing sometime this year, well, something had to give. Sadly, this is the logical thing to give. And, honestly, I’m already not giving this site the attention I once did, and traffic is starting to reflect that.
The book, by the way, is about half-done, and will be called Here’s Why And I’m Gonna Tell You – What I Think About Almost Everything, and I’m hoping it will be published this year.
When I do radio spots or podcasts, I’ll link them here. If I have something published, I’ll announce it here. But for the time being, the Animal Magnetism posts that I’ve been doing for over 20 years, including, sadly, all the Rule Five posts – hat tip to my good friend Robert Stacy McCain for that term – will have to be put on hold.
I deeply appreciate all of you who have been reading and commenting all these years. I want you all to know I’m more grateful than I can adequately express. Thank you, thank you all. May your 2026 and all your future years be happy, healthy, and prosperous. And check in from time to time; I’m not leaving for good, just pulling in my horns here. For the time being, here’s where you can find me:
