2025: Celebrating 35 years of Conserving and Protecting Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park
The Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park are an independent charity that looks after Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, a unique and vital nature reserve and heritage site in East London.
Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park offers everyone a breathing space in the heart of East London. This woodland cemetery is a unique place of transformation: a people’s cemetery, a place for remembrance, a sanctuary for humans as well as nature, a place for volunteering, field studies and summer fairs. Always changing with the seasons, it is rooted in the history of the East End, a place of rich heritage that is full of possibilities and freedom for all.
Our administrative and staff operations are based in the Cemetery Park Lodge, which we have recently renovated from a disused space into an attractive location for further heritage research, work placement experience and more. We generally use the Soanes Centre as a base to deliver larger community and volunteer events, including skills workshops, talks and lectures.
Our award-winning charityās mission is centred on conservation, heritage and community. We are a people-centric charity, offering opportunities to explore history, improve mental and physical wellbeing, and preserving and protecting the monuments and nature that make the Cemetery Park such a beautiful place.
