Outside aid is well-intentioned, but it creates a rotating door of unreliable services. Eastern Congo Initiative empowers local communities to drive their own solutions and prioritize long-term change. Join us in working shoulder-to-shoulder with Congolese communities.
Together with Congolese innovators, we are revolutionizing how the world approaches humanitarian aid. Our projects don’t end with a grant cycle, but launch from it. Let’s build a brighter future, faster than ever before.
🐥 One investment, long-term impact. AMAVESA’s poultry farm will provide sustainable income for over 150 widows in Eastern Congo. Your contribution helps launch a project that strengthens families and communities. 👉 Support the initiative today. https://ow.ly/5YAU50XKImt
🔥 This Giving Tuesday, we stand with the widows of AMAVESA in Goma. For more than two decades, these women-survivors of war, loss, and abandonment have built a community of healing and strength. Today, they are ready to take control of their economic future by launching a poultry farm that will provide sustainable income and dignity.
🛠️ The project is ready to go : The structure exists, the women are trained, and the plan is in motion. All that’s missing is $8,000 to launch operations, covering: • Pest control • Heating briquettes • Starter & finisher feed • Medications & transportation • 1,500 chicks This is not charity.
It’s partnership! These women are not asking for handouts. They are asking for the tools to build, to lead, and to provide for their families.
👉 Give today. Every contribution matters. Together, we can help 150+ widows rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. #GivingTuesday #AMAVESA #WomenEmpowerment #SustainableImpact #EasternCongo

In partnership with ECI, COOPABU has successfully completed a 136-day process to produce the first disease-free mini potato tubers in South Kivu. This initiative, launched in September 2023, faced early technical setbacks, but through training, greenhouse improvements, and continuous adaptation, the team exceeded expectations—harvesting over 16,700 mini tubers.
The seed is now in a 60-day dormancy period before being planted on 0.5 hectares, under official monitoring by SENASEM. By December 2025, the project is expected to yield five tons of certified healthy seed, contributing to greater food security and seed system resilience in the region.

Durable economic development strengthens communities, increases quality of life, and promotes civic engagement and democracy. The women at Rebuild Women`s Hope have built their capacity for years, proved their innovation, and demonstrated incredible commitment. They don`t deserve broken promises. Let`s support their efforts and get them across the finish line.
Our team has received an abundance of innovative proposals responding to the current crisis in the Kivus. These local organizations are already vetted by our professionals and––with your support––ready to serve their communities.
USAID is gone, but we are still here. And together, we are capable of great things.
On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the resilience and contributions of Congolese women to our homes, communities, and beyond. ECI supports women through health, water, entrepreneurship, and justice programs, recognizing their pivotal role in shaping society.
Currently, a women’s coffee cooperative faces unexpected challenges: USAID funding for their storage shed and processing stations has ceased, leaving them $35k in debt for completed work. As they prepare for their first major harvest this spring, they urgently need support to meet crucial deadlines.
Join us today in standing with these women and others facing pressing needs by giving today. Together, we can ensure their impactful work continues.
COOPABU, one of our partners, is taking a new step towards sustainability with a new healthy potato seed production system.
✨ Embracing resilience and innovation: COOPABU expands beyond potatoes to include peas, beans, corn, and vegetables, creating a robust economic ecosystem.
👩🌾 Inclusive governance: Empowered by gender mainstreaming, women and youth play essential roles, driving its growth and management.
💼 Building economic independence: By reintroducing potatoes in the market and launching seed production in Buhanga’s Kabare territory, COOPABU charts a path to financial self-reliance.
💡 A promising future: With ongoing production and market initiatives, COOPABU aims for sustainable growth and increased social impact.

High-impact, efficient change, driven by local organizations and community leaders. It just makes sense.
UPDATE: Local organizations continue to find solutions. Local businesses, many looted, work to restock and open their doors.
And we are still here.
Our rapid assessment has resulted in identifying several highly impactful interventions that need support––from caring for survivors of sexual assault, to feeding children at now unfunded malnutrition clinics.
Our approach is adapting, our commitment is not. With your support today, the work carries on.

We’ve done a rapid assessment with 46 community based organizations facing the mounting challenges of USAID freezes and escalating conflict. The 90 day freeze, as most local contracts are reimbursement-based, is enough to put all programming on hold and make it almost impossible for these organizations to restart. We`ve been in the Kivus for 15 years, we know the value of their work.
Supporting them now can ensure their continued impact and longevity.
