The Vision of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dallas typed this 2-page paper in the 1970s, but it sounds like it was written for today. Our guess is that it was prepared for a campus event at USC.

Dallas Willard spent his life making eternal living concrete for his friends. He encouraged us to use our own lives to demonstrate Jesus’s message. We must be transformed people living out a life reflective of Jesus himself: a life of love, humility, and gentleness.
He leaves behind a legacy as friend, philosopher and reformer of the church.

Is there a path of steady growth in the presence and power of God for the one who has placed their confidence in Jesus? Should we assume that it is God's intention our lives would be increasingly pervaded by the action of his hand, until "all we do in word or deed" would be done "in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him"? (Col. 3:11) Is this something we can arrange for, so that the command to grow in grace makes sense?
Dallas Willard reminds us that joy is not optional; celebration is the heartbeat of the spiritual life.
Jesus was the happiest person who ever lived: He turned water into wedding wine, welcomed children with laughter, and threw parties with the very people the religious crowd rejected. Celebration was His lifestyle.
Willard writes, "Without a joyful spirit the Disciplines become dull and grim. But celebration brings joy into life, and joy makes us strong." The Bible agrees: "Rejoice in the Lord always—again I say, rejoice!" (Phil. 4:4)
This holiday season, sing louder, laugh easier, give thanks often, and feast with gladness. True celebration says, "Even if everything else fails, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation."
Life celebrated, and the joy of the Lord will be your strength all year long!
