Canadian University Press
Canadian University Press (CUP) is a nonprofit cooperative owned by student newspapers at post-secondary schools across Canada. Founded in 1938, CUP is the oldest national student organization in North America.
CUP was originally formed to create a network of Canadian student newspapers to share ideas. Now in its 87th year, CUP continues to focus on connecting student publications across the country.
Throughout the year, members are invited to regional meetings to share ideas and learn from each other. CUP also provides numerous benefits to its members, including CWA membership, advocacy and outreach, legal support, the chance to participate in pan-Canadian journalism projects, mentorship and more.
Each year, CUP also hosts Canada’s largest student journalism conference, NASH, and the John H. MacDonald Excellence in Student Journalism awards, bringing together hundreds of student journalists.
