Safer Internet Day 2026

For Safer Internet Day 2026 (Tuesday 10 February 2026), the theme is “Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI”. This theme invites classrooms to consider how artificial intelligence already shapes their digital lives, how it can be used responsibly, and what it means to make safe, informed choices when using smart technology online.

To support teachers in exploring this topic with pupils, we’ve prepared a free resource pack: Smart Tech, Safe Choices. Designed for use in primary classrooms, these materials provide practical, age-appropriate lessons and activities that link computing and digital literacy with Safer Internet Day learning.

Since its inception in 2008, CAS has grown from a grassroots movement into a nationwide force, reaching 90% of UK schools and supporting over 3.5 million pupils. This success is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers, educators, and partners who work tirelessly to ensure every child has access to high-quality computing education.

Our Regional Communities have launched!

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Regional Communities, bringing together computing educators and industry professionals right across the UK.

Whether you’re teaching at primary, secondary or post-16, you can now join your local region to access ready-to-use resources and ideas, take part in events and workshops near you, and ask questions and connect with peers who understand your context.

Primary Resource of the Month: The Micro:bit: magnetism, science links & creativity

For January Ben Davies has chosen ‘The Micro:bit: magnetism, science links & creativity’ as his Primary resource of the month. Shared by Richard Smith, this resource includes ideas on how to add computing into the science curriculum through magnetism and the micro:bit.

Secondary Resource of the Month: Parts of the CPU unplugged

For January Becci Peters has chosen 'Parts of the CPU unplugged’ as her Secondary resource of the month. Shared by Andy Colley, this is a great activity which gets students collaborating with their classmates while understanding the roles of the CPU - one of the more difficult topics at GCSE.

In this session, Ellie Overland will guide you through what the new framework means for your computing curriculum, online safety and any use of AI. She will share ideas as to how you can proactively prepare for inspection and demonstrate quality, inclusive practice in your STEM provision.
