Project Management has been a key part of my life for decades. Whether coordinating artifacts, agendas, tracking timelines, and writing up reports, these have been key parts of everywhere I’ve worked over the course of my career. Going from the US Navy to SMBs and even the Fortune 500.

With this, I’ve loved tech things since I was a boy, whether electronics, computers, audio, or video equipment. In junior high, I got my first computer and have been in love ever since. Solving tech problems has always brought me enjoyment. Growing that into networking systems has been awesome! Eventually, I was able to explore AV systems and equipment in high school, when I was part of the “AV club”. At that time, I also started running sound and lights for music and drama events. I’ve been able to continue that as a side-hustle ever since.

After getting a certificate in Business and Clerical operations and Information Processing (focusing on Spreadsheets, Database systems, and the like), most of my career has been spent in general administrative support, but always tech adjacent (“hey Carl, the printer’s jammed, my laptop won’t connect to the network, the WiFi is running REALLY slow….etc). In those roles, I developed a deep understanding of business operations utilising my technical skills.

I spent the pandemic earning an Associate of Technical Arts in Web Application and Cloud Development. Additionally, I studied desktop support and took a few classes on Cisco networking (falling one class short of being ready to take the CCNA).

Funny, I expected to launch into webdev work after finishing that ATA. But I finished it right as major companies filled the news with layoffs of software/web developers. So, I find myself doing network administration and AV support. I guess those side classes were well worth taking.

I do get to do some web work. Right now, it’s mostly WordPress, Wix, and Squarespace support.

I also love writing haiku and taking photographs as creative outlets. You can view that work here.
