After a few turns on Wiwaxy, an easy-going, front-side cruiser at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, we stopped on a small rise to catch our breath and give our burning quads a break. Final run of the day. No need to push the envelope. In the distance, on the other side of the Bow Valley, the day’s last rays cut through a mess of angry clouds and dappled Mount Temple and its neighbouring peaks with amber light. A warm, incandescent glow reigned over everything. My wife, Dawn, and I just stood there, mesmerized, for a minute and soaked it all in. Ah, yes, the magic of winter. I’m a fan.
