To Tory Skordas - much of my information came from the Brooklyn Eagle and other Brooklyn and NYC newspapers. Tumbridge was often interviewed and his obituary contained a lot of the details of his life. If you want to search - the papers are digitized and available for searching here: https://bklyn.newspapers.com/ Put any search topic between parentheses and have fun. Also because the hotel has such a rich history, there's a fair bit of information available via a Google search, too. Thanks for writing, and good luck with your research.
Walkabout: Brooklyn’s Hotel St. George, Part 1Nice article. Is this the whole apartment? Of so where is the bedroom?
The Insider: Bed Stuy Garden Floor Reno Makes Aging in Place Stylish and SocialUmmm, if you don’t like the content of this comment, I would recommend not drawing attention to it by responding nearly 20 years later…
Thursday Food & Drink Round-UpHi, I’m Tumbridge’s descendant. Thank you for doing such an in depth article! I found it while doing family research. I wanted to add that the family kept the tradition of naming boats “Spartan”. He was also best friends with Charles Stratton, also known as General Tom Thumb, and would race yachts with him. As for Fort Fisher, during one instance as serving as distraction, the Confederates were about to shoot them from atop a mound. He ordered his men to hug the wall, avoiding casualties. I was wondering where you found all of the information about his accounts and his thoughts?
