In the UC Irvine Department of Biomedical Engineering, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where interdisciplinary researchers collaborate to advance human health. Our mission is to train students and researchers to use creative and critical thinking skills, enabling them to achieve groundbreaking innovation in research and the development of new biomedical devices.

We offer a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program that caters to students from various backgrounds and life experiences. With a robust team of 31 core faculty members and over 50 affiliate faculty from various fields, including other engineering disciplines, medicine, physical sciences and biological sciences, our students have abundant opportunities for collaboration and mentorship. We are proud to be a diverse and rapidly growing community with numerous professional researchers, 150 graduate students and over 550 undergraduates.
