In the course of salvation history, God, who is the ultimate miracle worker, has enabled select individuals to perform signs and wonders to demonstrate his supernatural power to deliver and to heal and thus to bring glory to himself. In Scripture, signs and wonders are clustered around three major interconnected salvation-historical periods and six key figures: (1) Moses and Israel’s exodus from Egypt; (2) the prophetic ministries of Elijah and his successor Elisha; and (3) the ministries of Jesus and his appointed representatives, the twelve apostles, and here particularly Peter and Paul.
