There is only one contested race in county-wide elections this year: Sheriff. Incumbent Sheriff Rodney Wright is stepping down to run for the State Senate, creating the first open race for Saline County Sheriff since 2014. Four candidates have filed to run for Saline County Sheriff, all as Republicans. The candidates are Richard Friend of Alexander, Rodney Goshien of Mabelvale, Dustin Robertson of Benton, and Aaron Washington of Bauxite. With no Democratic candidates filed, the winner of the Republican primary will effectively decide who becomes the county’s next sheriff.
