by petabyteAs this is a brand new forum, I thought I'd open up a thread to encourage new members to introduce themselves a bit.. now hey.. let's not get too personal.. ok ?
And if you wouldn't mind to keep this thread \"clean\" let's try to keep the the chitchat (i.e. even the welcome to the board replies) to a minimum or this thread may get to 100 pages fast
So I'll start things off :
My name is petabyte and I'm a forum junkie.
I've been off the wagon for a number of years and countless times I've tried to stop but it's useless.....

by tony359HI all,
I'm trying to repair an Onkyo SR806. Originally it had the usual "faulty DSP" sympthoms but it turned out that the supply voltage of the DSP chips was oscillating. I found both capacitors after the linear regulators for the DSP supply to be dead and that was causing the issue.
Once that was resolved, I focussed on the other issue: a pretty loud buzzing noise from the speakers, the usual 100Hz (I am in the UK so we have 50Hz here).
I've unplugged the amplifier board from the inputs and there is NO noise so the issue is in the signal being...-

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo L340 on my bench. After hours of work on this motherboard, I identified the culprit preventing it from starting up: the Realtek ALC3287 audio IC. I have some donor boards available, but unfortunately not the exact same model. Since I couldn’t find a datasheet, I was wondering: can I safely replace the ALC3287 with an ALC3227?
Thanks in advance.Today, 05:17 PM -
by szapeHello!
I have a macbook pro A2159 which does not turn on, 0.03A current draw at 5V. No liqiud damage.
PPBUS_G3H at F7000 is 0V
PP3v3_G3H_RTC at C3200 is 0V, shorted.
PP3v3_G3H_PMU_VDDMAIN at C7891 is 0V
PP1V8_SLP_S2R at C3202 is 0V, shorted.
PPBUS_G3H Short to ground, after injecting 1V 5A at F7000, U6903 lights up under thermal camera.
I'm not sure what to do next, should i replace U6903 or the problem might be somewhere else?
Please help me diagnose this issue.
Thanks.
