APT’s MISSION is to advance appropriate traditional and new technologies to care for, protect, and promote the longevity of the built environment and to cultivate the exchange of knowledge throughout the international community.
2026 Timber Bridge Student Design-Build Competition Open The Preservation Engineering Technical Committee (PETC) Student Design-Build Competition is a hands on challenge to students with an interest in historic buildings and structures. Teams (composed of any students enrolled at the time of competition call) work to analyze an existing structure and subsequently design a structure within the specified guidelines. The designs are evaluated and top teams are brought to the APT Annual Conference for on-site building and testing of their structures, followed by a final competition phase of unique preservation type questions and solutions.
