I remember when my sister used to track me on my around the world trips. That was fun an very cool, being able to share some of the places I was visiting. My sister has traveled a lot too!

What if this is all there is? Seems there was a Jack Nicholson movie about that. And of course it is not all there is. There are still adventures to be had, some at work in dreary, repetitive drudgery, some adventures with friends and family (I looked back at that word “drudgery” and thought it was too harsh. Nope, most of it is drudgery). There is always my walk with Christ. I had a wonderful opportunity to worship with a South Sudanese congregation recently. Now that was awesome.
Back to adventures: I am reading and writing well, I still enjoy many hobbies and really look forward to the next time Neighbor Joe and I can meet at the fire pit, enjoy a cocktail or three and debate lofty things.
oh. here i am.

last month, i could bask in the glow of the moon on my parents’ deck in Washington.
we sat outside watching it rise above Mt. Baker.
Bittersweet these memories.
this would be the twin sisters, i guess.
last night, i was joined by some women from the neighborhood,
we sat outside with nice wine, and good food
and watched the moon rise over the hills… through the clouds…
i love the moon, waxing and waning.
no matter where i go, or who i am with.
there is the moon.

those who know me well
in fact those who barely know me
will notice that i am not a bible thumper
i do have a favorite bible verse
which gives a time and a season for everything.
so i stitched it.
on my favorite scrap of rough indigo hemp.
then put that on some lovely linen
with some more scraps.
and then i bedazzled it with my pin collection.
and old earrings.
and hung it up.
today, we celebrate the 68th anniversary of the bombing
of Nagasaki.
a time for peace.
finally found my blog

nuclear weapon testing. asteroids exploding. cruise ships burning.
and yet.
the plum tree blooms.
and in the spring when the warm wind blows, i will pick the plums… which will be hard and sour…. and give them to my old neighbor so that she can make “ume shu” a very sweet kind of wine that she keeps in a big jar under her sink.
