The James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) is pleased to name the Lilienfeld Alliance as our most recent award recipient.
The JREF award is given each year to persons or organizations that best represent the spirit of the foundation and the legacy of James “The Amazing” Randi. Randi had an international reputation as a magician and escape artist, but was perhaps best known as the world’s most tireless investigator and demystifier of paranormal and pseudoscientific claims.
The Lilienfeld Alliance (www.lilienfeldalliance.org) is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the purpose of which is to connect instructors who teach rational skepticism and critical thinking at the college and university level, to advocate for course content that promotes rational skepticism, and to encourage further study of best practices in the pedagogy of teaching such courses. The organization is named for Scott Lilienfeld, the late psychologist who championed teaching approaches that explicitly challenge and correct false beliefs. They are currently organizing Lilicon 2026, a conference to take place this May at the California State University, Fresno.
The JREF hopes that this award will help the Alliance to further pursue its important work.
