SXSW 2011's Unexpected Non-fiction Storytelling panel delved into new trends in internet media production, including web projects and interactive documentaries.

The session was moderated by IDFA DocLab New Media Coordinator Caspar Sonnen, and featured innovators Ze Frank (star.me), National Film Board of Canada's (NFB) Hugues Sweeney and Rob McLaughlin, and Collapus creator and SXSW IA web award winner Tommy Palotta.

SXSW Interactive Announces Featured Speaker Jane McGonigal

World-renowned game designer Jane McGongial returns to SXSW Interactive in 2012 to discuss her latest project, SuperBetter! SuperBetter is a game derived from McGonigal's own experience in recovering from a severe concussion. She'll discuss the evolution of SuperBetter's design and how it grew from her own personal recovery system into a general aid for those suffering from an array of health issues. The goal is to help people feel better, faster when dealing with asthma, diabetes, migraines, depression, chronic pain, quitting smoking, and rehabilitation for sports-related injuries.

Blitzen Trapper Returns to Austin in March for SXSW

Photo of cover of More than 350 more acts have been announced this week for the 26th SXSW Music Festival, including the Oregon quintet Blitzen Trapper. It's been a few years since the band played the festival, but they did co-star in a world premiere short at our 2011 film festival, "The Blitzen Trapper Massacre," in which fellow Portlander Rainn Wilson of "The Office" takes his devotion to the band to diabolical ends.
