Is there a way to keep a member logged in to EE2 after he changed his password?
Thanks

Firefox hates flash played through Shadowboxtag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1783552011-01-16T02:46:47Zpushloop
For some reason, Firefox won’t play movies displayed through a “shadowbox” on my client’s site. However, if the page displayed in the shadowbox is loaded on its own, it plays just fine.

“Switch” parameter help / solution?tag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1783262011-01-15T16:03:28Zmaodiddy
I have an issue with a solution I implemented to output entries in groups of four, using the switch parameter. Perhaps it’s not the best solution, so any advice on an alternate method to achieve the same result is most welcome.
I have used the switch parameter to wrap every four entries with an opening and closing <li> tag, but there is one flaw in this approach.
This works great, except for when the total entries is not divisible by four. If there isn’t a fourth entry in each group, the <li> tag does not close.
I can’t figure out how to ensure that there is always a closing </li> tag on the final group… Any ideas?
Thanks so much!

Accessible captcha, works?tag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1783172011-01-15T12:26:03Zleeaston
Greg Salt’s Accessible captcha (https://devot-ee.com/add-ons/accessible-captcha) looks good. Anyone care to share their experience of using it, do spam bots break through?
Thank you

Installed EE…now what?tag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1781442011-01-13T13:38:20ZjbridgesdesignThis question may be related to a resolved thread.
Okay so I’ve installed EE, I have a couple themes in there…but now I’m so lost and confused as to what to do. I’ve heard I need to create channels and templates which I believe I understand (mostly) but how do I get my site to look like an actual…site? I am very frustrated trying to figure this out. I know how to create a static site using HTML and CSS but I don’t understand what to do here. Also, if I’m using a theme (like the Records one that came with the install) how do I know what to do with it? Is there dummy data somewhere so that I can get an idea of what the site would look like so that I can start figuring this thing out?
Please help and again, thank you.

EE Like a Real Estate Classified SItetag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1781542011-01-13T14:57:11Z2011-01-13T15:47:04ZDeep Arora
Can EE be tweaked to work like a real estate classified site, similar to MagicBricks.com?
Hint: If someone is willing to take up this project, please PM me.

Non-flash Slideshow for EE?tag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1781592011-01-13T15:20:35ZEvoir
Hi there,
I’ve checked out Mono Slide Show and slideshow pro… both use flash
Basically, I want to have a number of images uploaded, and have it cycle through them. Would be ideal if it was not flash, so iphones/ipads etc can still use it…
Easy to add new photos, etc.
Advice?

Column HTML Help Neededtag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1781782011-01-13T18:59:31Z2011-01-14T07:29:28ZDesertRat
Hi all, I’m trying to use this blog theme template in EE 2 (click to view page source for the code/styles)—https://matthewjamestaylor.com/blog/ultimate-3-column-blog-style-pixels.htm
What I’m having a problem with is I want to make the brown column to the right wider. The source code says its 200px with 170px being the content size. Every time I try to widen it to 300px everything gets messed up. Can anyone look at the code and suggest the correct change? I want the column in yellow at right to stay at its regular size of 170px. The blog area in white at the left is just too wide. I want the column in brown to be wider, taking away some from the white left blog content col. Once I get beyond this I can finish my new EE 2 blog. I’ve reproduced the css column section below:
/* column container */ .colmask { position:relative; /* This fixes the IE7 overflow hidden bug and stops the layout jumping out of place */ clear:both; float:left; width:100%; /* width of whole page */ overflow:hidden; /* This chops off any overhanging divs */ } /* 3 column blog style settings */ .blogstyle { background:#ff9; /* Right column background colour */ } .blogstyle .colmid { float:left; width:200%; margin-left:-200px; /* Width of right column */ position:relative; right:100%; background:#FFD8B7; /* Centre column background colour */ } .blogstyle .colleft { float:left; width:100%; margin-left:-200px; /* Width of centre column */ background:#fff; /* Left column background colour */ } .blogstyle .col1wrap { float:left; width:50%; padding-bottom:1em; /* Centre column bottom padding. Leave it out if it's zero */ } .blogstyle .col1 { margin:0 15px 0 415px; /* Centre column side padding: Left padding = left column width + centre column left padding width Right padding = right column width + centre column right padding width */ position:relative; left:100%; overflow:hidden; } .blogstyle .col2 { float:right; width:170px; /* Width of left column content (left column width minus left and right padding) */ position:relative; left:185px; /* Width of the left-had side padding on the left column */ } .blogstyle .col3 { float:right; width:170px; /* Width of right column content (right column width minus left and right padding) */ position:relative; left:555px; }
Thanks for any help you guys can give, sure appreciate it.

EE and SMF integrationtag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1781522011-01-13T14:46:28ZThe Hero
Hi, I am working on a website for a client, built in EE, however, for the forum, we are going with Simple Machines Forum. We would like to have a single log in/registration between the 2 components of the website. Has anyone tried this before? Any experience? I saw a post on the simple machines forum message boards talking about using an integrate.php file to achieve single log in, but that seems to be for a website built from scratch without a cms. Has anyone done this before?

Interfacing with a SOAP Web Servicetag:expressionengine.com,2011:forums/viewthread/.1781282011-01-13T10:42:35Zfcb66
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a tutorial or some documentation on how to get an expressionengine 2 site to talk to a web service.
I’ve been googling it for a while and have yet to find anything useful.
