The core of the project is a web application for structured content delivery and user interaction in a closed community that is not a “standard” Web site. Think application, not site, development. Core features under development or that we need developed are: 1. Main functionality of the system is to display hierarchical content to the user in a very visual manner (think more like an iPad application than a normal web site). The hierarchy is flexible, with any given piece of content (entry) potentially located in a number of places (via linking/mapping). Currently we custom developed the hierarchy/relationships since the existing plugins like Playa were insufficient (hierarchy is determined by a channel entry detailing the parent/child relationship). Primary content is text entries, but comments, “Answers” (see below), and multimedia are also tied to the hierarchy/topics. 2. Users will be able to rate and comment on all content elements. We have a threaded commenting system mostly developed since the standard EE comments aren’t threaded. Ratings are via the SolSpace module. 3. Users can submit “questions” with our staff returning “Answers”. This part of the system is not developed yet. Answers can then be converted into content added to the main hierarchy. We are building both the user side and a back end answer management UI. 4. All user activity is tracked so we can present them a history of what they’ve seen/read already. That’s the core functionality- structured content and questions and answers, with anything available for ratings/comments. Style: The trick is that we are taking an unusual visual/menu approach with heavy use of modals and animations to make this look more like a stand alone application than an EE “web site”. We also have plans to expand the system over time with additional functionality. Additional Comments: We are currently looking for an EE developer to assist with an ongoing project. We can provide more details once we put an NDA in place, but the project consists of the development of a web application for structured content delivery and user interaction with EE as the back-end CMS. jQuery is also used heavily for the UI. Project design is complete and development started, but we need a supplemental developer to speed up the project. We have one EE developer on the project already, and a design firm working on the visual UI (which will need to be converted from raw HTML/CSS/jQuery templates into EE). I’m serving as project manager (and used to run a web application development firm in a previous life) but am not involved with any of the programming. Although about 40% of the back end functionality is complete, the front end is *very* rough and entire sections haven’t been started yet. We need someone willing to work with our current developer to complete the project. Timeline is to start immediately, and objective is to have a fully functional beta site by the beginning of February.
