I’ve seen this message before on the forums here but I did not see a clear resolution. Is there any one here who can advise?  I just purchased the software after using the v1 software for a very long while expecting this to work just as easily. The files have been tested on two different servers with the same result. For those wondering what I’m trying to do, in this case I’m trying to do either one of: - show an entry - in its entry page, find its category, show a list of all entries in that category with the current entry in bold or: - show a subcategory page - in its subcategory page, find its parent, show a list of all subcategories with that parent, with the current subcategory in bold The theme here is that I want to have variables that have things like $entry_id, $category_id, etc that I can pass to other entry loops.  I am completely stumped.  I could solve this if I could: - nest a exp:channel:entries loop inside of a “categories” varpair, and refer to {url_title} in the outer loop, but I can’t - Assign a php variable with the contents of {category_name} (the example above), but I can’t - A few other approaches I’ve tried.  I am starting to feel like I am wasting time. 2010-10-16T20:56:16-06:00 Not Receiving FreeForm Emails https://expressionengine.com/forums/viewthread/170577/ https://expressionengine.com/forums/viewthread/170577/#When:20:41:30Z Hi all, I’ve used FreeForm several times in the past with good results, but this time around I don’t seem to be receiving any of the test form emails. Everything seems to be working fine with FreeForm - the form processes the info on submit and it redirects to the right page. The form information also shows up in the FreeForm Entries tab. But I’m not receiving the notification email. This probably isn’t a FreeForm problem at all, but something with my CP settings or my server. Could you please throw out a few suggestions of things that I should check in order to fix the problem? Thanks! P.S. I’ve figured out it has something to do with how Google is adding stuff to the end of the search URL. Google adds a string of things to the search results URL that always starts with a “?” and then a letter. Somehow the “?” doesn’t cause problems, but adding a letter after that makes EE cough up the error page (<a href="https://www.fallacydetective.com/search/?d">https://www.fallacydetective.com/search/?d</a>). But it’s not the normal error page (<a href="https://www.fallacydetective.com/pages/error/">https://www.fallacydetective.com/pages/error/</a>) but instead the search page, but with the error page contents. Any ideas on why this is happening? I plan to migrate my site to ExpressionEngine 2x with a freelancer license. Apparently there is no out of the box way to do this and as the freelancer license doesn’t include 1.6x importing then upgrading isn’t an option. The only method I can see is using the data grab add-on which costs £20 for something that I really do think ExpressionEngine should be able to handle. I have been using EE for four years now, I like it very much, but lately I have been approached by a couple clients on my thoughts on MODx or if I knew anything about it. I know that as a developer, I am comfortable building in EE, Wordpress, LightCMS, I know that the CMS we choose as developers is based upon the task and the goals we want to achieve. I have read comparisons on MODx touting it as a great EE replacement, because it is Free! Open Source has its place, but when building for clients, I want to create something that they will have a great experience using and that will be solid. What I have not encounter is a great comparison on the two. You read here in the forums comparisons between Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress, but not much with MODx. So, relax and share your developer and user experience with MODx, tell us why you like it and if you have been a convert from MODx to EE or viceversa.
