using webform
I like to use a single contact form that is routed to different expert emails depending on where the user comes from. I also need the form title and intro text needs to be customized. I am using the webform module.
Example: I have a link “talk to expert A” and a second link “talk to expert B”. Both links point to the same form at forms/generic_form.
link A points to forms/generic_form?recipient=expert_a@example.com
link B points to forms/generic_form?recipient=expert_b@example.com
In the form I have set a field “recipient” with a default value of %get[recipient]
Shoudl I use CCK for everthing?
This is a newbie question, so please forgive me if it's obvious (my copy of Pro Drupal Development doesn't cover it):
I am writing my first module. It needs to use a table with zip-codes and regions and other attributes to work. My first inclination is to add this table to Drupal. But I was asked if I could create a new content type and import these records as content (unpublished). That way if any
Drupal theme Developer | InfoPeople Corporation
We are looking for a PHP developer that will build application for our Drupal based website. You will be responsible for wide array of exciting projects on strict deadlines; ranging anywhere from 2 days to 2 months.
Work history should reflect competence in programming best practices (writing clean code), implementing 3rd party API's and Content Management Systems. This position requires excellent front end coding skills in addition to PHP based backend. The ideal candidate will have prior professional experience with Drupal with excellent PHP skills.
How to professionalize my workflow by adding Drush, CVS, SVN, etc?
I'm still coding in DreamWeaver (embarrassed). Have tried switching to other apps/methods, but always drift back to what I know and where I can stay productive. Is there documentation anywhere on how to move to a more professional workflow that covers integrating a real code editor (perhaps Eclipse) with Drush, CVS, SVN, Dig, etc? I can find snippets on each but can't get my head around linking the whole process together--at least not fast enough to also stay productive.
Where to Learn PHP?
The more I learn about Drupal, the more I realize that I should learn some PHP. Does anyone have suggestions about where to do so? Are there any recommendations for online tutorials? Ideally, I'd love to find a site that teaches PHP within the framework of Drupal, but I realize that might be too much to ask.

Making the Drupal Search more efficient with Location.
Hello all,
I'm building a website where there will be locations attached to nodes through CCK.
I would like to offer the possibility to the visitor to find a node with a keyword(like the default search) BUT ALSO with a city name to narrow the search (like the Location Search).
I browsed the drupal modules but none of them allow me to do that.
It's either find a location or find a keyword in a node, but not the mix of them.
How can I achieve that ? Any idea ?

I feel a module coming on......
I'm building a site based on OG Panels, and one thing has got me befuddled:
I configured the node template for my group node in the panels dashboard, then created some panel pages on my group node:
So my Menu_local_tasks look like: tab1 , tab2, tab3
However when I click one of my posts the tabs "disappear"
Looking at my menu_router table: node/% has a page_callback of page_manager_node_view and a file entry of sites/all/modules/ctools/page_manager/plugins/tasks/node_view.inc
Forthcoming Media Alpha!
So we're this close to an alpha for the Media module (for d7). There are only a few outstanding critical alpha-blocking issues that need to be resolved. I'd hoped to have it today, but it looks like it'll probably be Monday.
Next week is the time for you to jump in if you're interested in developing for the project! It's been loads of fun, from the initial discussions and plans over a year ago with arthurf, dopry, drewish, Roger López, myself and others, to fantastic core Drupal 7 integration of stream wrappers by pwolanin and GSOC student jmstacey, to some powerhouse #d7ux magic by mverbaar and Jody Lynn, to the latest overhaul introducing Media fieldable entities (with an eye for core Drupal 8) and WYSIWYG integration by JacobSingh and dipen chaudhary, with some potential upcoming fine-tuning from jQuery guru dmitrig01.
If you're interested, join us in IRC at #drupal-media. After giving the module a spin (you'll need Drupal 7 Alpha 1, Media, Styles, and WYSIWYG + CKEditor, and optionally Media: Flickr and/or Media: YouTube), you should subscribe to the Issue queue. Druapl 6.X Arabic translation
Greetings All Arabic Druaplians,
Welcome to our Arabic group
With the current weak (or even dead) presence of Arabic Druapl activity, I decided it was time we wake up and get moving. Negative as we are this has to change and we have the chance to bring the wealth of OS Druapl to the Arabic world.
Our first discussion is the starting point of all other objectives set for this work group. This discussion will be focused on bringing a final refined and 100% complete Druapl 6.X translation.

Streams
Streams are broad subject areas which Drupal can be divided into. Much like a degree in Mathematics might be divided into streams in algebra, analysis, mathematical methods and medhanics, Drupal can be divided into three streams: site building and administration, theming and development. In addition to this, a separate foundation stream, Beginning Drupal can broadly be compared to a pre-university course in Mathematics that teaches the basics, and can then be relied upon in the other streams.

FFmpeg is supported. We have site mockups available at https://careereagle.com/image/tid/1. Please view the mockups and provide your estimate of the work required, rates, experience and anticipated timeframe for development in replies.
Drupal Media, Now with Fieldable Entities!
If you haven't looked recently, there's been some huge progress recently for Drupal's Media module. Jacob Singh from Acquia has jumped on board, paving the way for fieldable entities! This allows Media asset objects to be a first class Drupal citizen, alongside Nodes, Users, Taxonomy, and Comments. (Hopefully in core for Drupal 8!) Also, Dipen Chaudhary has been hard at work providing WYSIWYG support!
Best way to do requirements checking on CCK or profile fields
Hi everyone,
I have code popping up like this in a few of my modules ... basically I go through and check all of the hardcoded profile and CCK fields I use actually exist.
It seems like there could be a better way to do it, any ideas?
<?php
function example_requirements($phase) {
$requirements = array();
if ($phase === 'runtime') {
// Check for the profile category
$categories = profile_categories();
$category_exists = FALSE;
foreach ($categories as $category) {
if ($category['name'] === EXAMPLE_PROFILE_AFFILIATE_CATEGORY) {

I've discussed this idea to some extent on the dev and docs mailing lists, it was suggested that I also post here. In brief:
I think it would be great if we (the broad Drupal community) could put together a series of online courses which teach people different aspects of Drupal.
