LeadershipThe leadership of the Mac community is intended to exist for administrative purposes only. The content and direction of projects and discussion is entirely reserved to java.net members themselves. The community is governed by an elected leadership council, which may delegate official duties to other parties. Leadership CouncilThe core administrative group is a "leadership council" of members initially to be appointed by Sun for the purpose of getting the community up and running. The initial members are:
The council positions will be up for election by the membership of java.net on a date to be set by the initial council, but no later than 12/31/04. Thereafter, elections will occur at a time chosen by the acting leadership council, but no later than one year after the previous election. Notice of the election is to be given at least one week prior to the beginning of balloting, and election results are to be publicized on the mac.java.net website for at least one week. The council may consist of anywhere from one to four members. If a member resigns, the position may be left open until the end of the term, or it may be filled for the remainder of the term by a special election, bound by the same notice requirements. The leadership council will have the following responsibilities:
