Saramago Library Manager
Welcome to the new website of Saramago. This is just a temporary webpage while a proper site is being developed. Dont expect it soon as all my (little) time available is being focused on developing Saramago itself.

1. What is Saramago?
Saramago is a simple Library Manager. Using a database(see technical details) it can store borrowers informations, as well as books and loans. Saramago allows you to register new loans, check availability of books, warn of books that should have been delivered and much more. For the complete features and a more detailed description please wait for more development and the new website :)Technical Details: Saramago is being developed in Java(1.5.0). Java was choosen for being multiplatform, which means Saramago can run anywhere where a Java VM is installed. Saramago connects to a MySQL server, so you will need one too. However, this connection is established via TCP/IP so you can have multiple workstations running Saramago and one server for the database.

2. Internationalization and Accessibility
Saramago is being developed from the bottom-up with Internationalization(i18n) and Accessibility in mind. What does this means? For i18n it means that volunteers can translate just a text file to their own language and the whole Saramago application will be available in that language. With this I expect Saramago to become available in many different languages.
For Accessibility, it means that Saramago can be used by people with certain physical disabilities, for it will be compatible with Screen-readers, text-to-speech devices and so on.

4. How to Help?
Currently the project is in its early stages of development, so all the help is need. I'm specially looking for persons who know Java, SQL and Internationalization(string translations). Java being the most important one ;)If you think you can help, contact me(see below).
5. Contacts
For contacting the project developers please use the Forum available in the Java.net.If you want to contact me directly, you can send me an email to nunodonato@gmail.com. I'm also available through jabber with Jabber ID: nunod@jabber.org
