The Java Showcenter Server should be a state of the art
streaming mediaserver for actual hardware streaming clients.
Problem / Motivation
I own a Pinnacle Showcenter™ and the server side software
delivered is good but Windows™ only and it's not extensible.
I searched for alternatives but I found only PHP-replacements for the
server part. These replacements (oxyl~box &
OpenShowCenter) where also good (and additional extensible) but PHP
is not my choise for programming.
Solution / Vision
Build a framework for delivery of multimedial content and an application
on top of it (supporting various streaming clients) to addresses the
above problems by satisfying the following goals:
Build a plattform independent modular framework with common
technologies.
Provide abstract core classes for rapid implementation of mediahandlers
(audio/video/photo) and other handlers (callmonitor/weather-/stockdata).
Open the source to a wide range of developers for better code
quality.
Risk Factors
Time is the universal risk factor. I hope I can spend enough...
Deliverables
A stable package incl. documentation for using at least the Pinnacle
Showcenter™ with core mediahandlers supporting UPnP
announcment.
