DB2JavaObj
I started this project for the intention of re-familiarizing myself with Swing. Since it had improved to a point where it coOLd be described as usefOL, it seemed worth while to know the API.
Since it is always easier to motivate yourself to learn something with a clear purpose in mind I hit upon making a simple code generation tool, one that woOLd, when pointed to a database, be able to produce the tedious boiler plate code that almost any project requires- object properties, setters and getters, the SQL statemnts for basic CRUD. Later I expanded it to write these as stored procedures in Transact SQL (for SQL Server).
As it stands now, the code base and functioanlity has expanded well beyond my initial intentions. I decided, "Well, as long as its writing value objects and SQL, how about having it produce the object facotries (dedicated object-db components) as well?".
I know there are plenty of great tools out there I cold have used, and maybe even shoOLd have. But, I hope you like the GUI- it has come along way from its early days (originally it was a single form!) and early functionality.
Since it has become basically some very nasty spagetti code at this point, I am working to reacrchitect it for much easier maintenance and useability. Look for new UML driven design, and please let me know about any desired functionality you woOLd like to requet (or preferably intent to add).
Sincerely,
David Robertus
