Savant is both a command-line build tool and a dependency management library. It includes ant extensions so that it can be used within Apache ant or as a stand-alone tool.
Savant 2.0 Alpha
Savant 2.0 Alpha has been released. This includes the command-line build tool
that can be used as an alternative to Apache ant and maven. You can download
this version from the files area here at Java.net or use one of these quick

Overview
Savant is a dependencies framework that allows complex dependencies to be
managed. Savant can be used outside of Apache Ant as a stand-alone build tool,
but it also offers a full suite of Ant tasks and types so that it can be
used within any Ant build file.
