Sudo (superuser do) allows a system administrator to give certain
users (or groups of users) the ability to run some (or all) commands
as root or another user while logging the commands and arguments.
The current version is
sudo 1.6.8p12,
released on November 8, 2005.
Please note: versions of Sudo prior to 1.6.8p9 contain a
race condition
that could allow a user with sudo privileges to run unauthorized
commands
(CVE 2005-1993).
Sudo is free software and is distributed under an
ISC-style license.
Sudo is also user-supported software--the author receives
no funding from vendors who include it in their products. I would
like to significantly overhaul the current Sudo code and write a
proper user's manual but, as I am currently unemployed, I can't do
it without funding. You can help make this happen by purchasing a
support contract for your organization,
buying a copy of Sudo or by making a
donation. The future of Sudo is in
your hands.
