FAQ
Frequently asked questions:
What am I shopping for when it comes to photographers? Are they all the same?
All photographers are not created equal. Each photographer has different styles, skill sets, education level, and experience. The first thing I recommend doing is taking a look at their galleries or portfolio to see if you like their work. It is also important to compare different photographer’s portfolios. Many times a photographer’s work will look acceptable until compared to another’s.
I can’t say what makes one photographer better than another. All I can say is that my degree in photography and experiences have bettered my skills tenfold.
As always, price matters. You want the best images for the best price. However, as my daddy always said, “you get what you pay for.” Be wary of the too good to be true deal, especially when you’re trusting someone to take pictures of priceless moments… weddings, infant photography etc. You won’t have an opportunity for a re-do once the wedding’s over.
Why is professional photography so expensive?
The high cost of a professional photography is the result of a few factors; equipment, knowledge, and time. Rosie Warner Photography uses an extremely high quality camera that uses an amazing 21.1 megapixel full frame sensor. The lenses used are also nothing short of the best. This means that the images produced will be clear, and crisp!
The main factor however, is time. The process an image goes through to bring it from capture to print can be a lengthy one, possibly taking a few hours. This “editing” is probably the most vital step in creating a professional image. This is very skilled work and takes months to years to master. This is why there is such a vast difference between taking a snapshot to a one-hour photo and buying a professional print from Rosie Warner Photography.
The quality of the print itself is much higher with Rosie Warner Photography. At a “one-hour photo,” you are paying for a low quality photo paper that is printed using an antiquated system (in most cases), and their generic tweaking that they do to everyone’s image that, in most cases, actually makes the image worse!
So, in a nut shell, when you purchase a photograph from me, you are paying for my time to take the picture, my equipment, my knowledge of lighting and composition, my advance editing skills, and a print that is professionally printed at a lab that has worked with Rosie Warner Photography to calibrate her monitor to exactly match their high quality printers! Whoo! That was a lengthy explanation, but, hopefully, that will help you in your decision-making process!
What Exactly Does Editing a photo mean?
This is quite the question! It’s much easier to show than to explain. Basically, it all depends on the image and what I want to final product to look like. There are a few things however that I do to every image. I will open up my set of images from our session into my Adobe editing software, choose my favorites, color correct the image, edit out any blemishes if it is a portrait, dodge and burn (which is photographer talk for lightening and darkening elements in the image for a better tonal range) and finally I sharpen the image (which is a filter that enhances a digital file to show more detail). That alone is the basics that I start with to edit each digital file.
Now to show you a picture straight from the camera and one that has been “digitally re-mastered!”

What is my “Ordering Consultation?
This is actually quite important before making your order! However, it is completely optional.
We will contact you to schedule your ordering consultation about a week or so after your session. This is the first time you will see all your images! This is for a few reasons… Most importantly, every computer screen displays a picture differently, sometime altering the colors, how light or dark the picture is and so on. This is why it’s so important to view them on our calibrated monitor, which are set to match what are lab prints. We will also show you many of our sample sizes and products, and explain how the ordering site works.
However, you also have the option to place your order at this time, which we actually recommend. That way, we can help you decide on sizes and which pictures would be best for wall portraits, or any other questions you might have.
When is payment due?
Payment for you session is due at the time of session.
Payment for your prints is due at the time it is placed, before we send it off to print.
Buying the files…
I often get asked by clients if they can just purchase the files. Many clients like to scrapbook and make special holiday cards on their own. So, my answer is yes, however, I still have to consider the time and the expenses of each session.
I charge a $700 flat charge unless a print purchase of over $500 has been made, in which case, it’s $350. I only put this blurb in the frequently asked questions section to explain the price. By selling a disc of the files, a photographer is losing out on the print sale and custom products orders you would make and any future re-orders.
What does buying the files mean? Do I own the Copyright?
Buying the files means you will receive a copy of your edited images on a disc with a print release allowing you to make prints anywhere you like. Though, I do not recommend Walmart, Walgreens, or snapfish. Please use MPix.com! You do not own the copyright. Rosie Warner Photography retains the copyright to any image taken per federal law. The print release is for personal use only and files cannot be resold.
Baby Sessions
When is the best time to book my session?
Newborn photography should be taken within the first two weeks of life. The little ones sleep long and deep enough to get them into the infant poses that we all love.
What should I bring?
I encourage all my clients to bring any cute hats, swaddling blankets or props that they adore! Things that are close to your heart and that will be with your child while they are growing will be remembered the most fondly in your photographs.
How long will my session take?
You never know with babies! Sometimes they’re very good for us and sometimes they fight us. It all depends on how they are feeling that day. We reserve 4-5 hours for your session.
It’s best if you bring your baby right before they’re usual nap time. We recommend waiting to nurse or give them their bottle until you arrive. A separate room is available for nursing.
Senior Sessions
How many locations and clothing changes do I get!
A senior session can last anywhere between one and four hours. I don’t like to rush your pictures so I don’t sell one hour, or two hour sessions. It’s up to you! If you have five outfit changes and three locations you want to use, great! I can go all day, but I haven’t had anyone that want to go longer than four hours, so I book a four hour session for you… If you really want to try to do more, feel free to mention while you are booking and I will allot you more time.
What should I do with my makeup? (girls)
Even if you don’t normally wear makeup, foundation and mascara is highly recommended. This will help decrease unwanted shine and bring out your eyes in the photograph.
How fast can we do this shoot? (boys)
I know I know… many of you are just doing pictures to make your mom happy, which is awesome. I can go pretty quick, and we can get things done in a little less than an hour if we have to.
Can I bring a friend?
Of course! Bringing a friend or relative can be a lot of fun. However, make sure it’s someone you feel completely comfortable with and won’t be embarrassed posing in front of.
