Picked up a new Bersa Thunder 40 at the gun show last weekend. Sweet looking semi-auto, hope it fires as good as everyone says it does.

Well, it's official now. the Nobel prizes, at least the Peace prize, don't mean squat!

Hasn't done a damn thing, except completely screw the US, and Teh One wins a freakin' Nobel Peace Prize.

Beam me up, Scotty, there's almost no intelligent life down here.

I can't believe how long it's been since my last post! Not that anybody's noticed or anything.

So much has been going on, like Boy graduating Basic Training, Medic school, and Airborne school, and said Boy marrying his high school sweetheart, and, oh, just SCADS of stuff!

More later, I promise.

I've been having trouble with my home PC for some months. Slow, sometimes rebooting in the middle of surfing or games, but nothing real bad.

Some one askoed me where the pictures of my New York trip were, the other day. They're on my computer, I replied. I'll get around to posting them soon, says I.

Well, guess what.

I ain't gonna post them now.

Why, you ask?

It's not that I don't want you to see them. It's that my ever so lovin' computer decided to do a restore back to January. ALL ON IT'S OWN! And wiped out all data back to then. Music, documents, and PICTURES! I now have no pictures of my trip to NYC!

I got even, though. I bought a brand new PC, HP with an AMD Phenom X4 Quad-core processor.

And guess what's gonna be my target the next time I go shooting?

That's right. My old POS, SOB PC.

Just me and my friends.

My friends with AR-15's and AK-47's. And Shotguns. And heavy caliber pistols.

Lots of them.

And if I can get ahold of my buddies from when I was a Civil War re-enactor, I'll see if they can bring a cannon with them, too.

Damn! I can't believe it's been a month since my last post. I am so lazy, it's pitiful!

Well, what's been going on?

We went to NYC and had a wonderful time. I even kept up(mostly) with all the walking! Actually, the walking part wasn't so bad. but the steps leading down to and up from the subway were what killed me. And I am SO P.I.S.S.E.D at not being able to get together with Erica, you can't even believe it! It was just non-stop, go-go-go, rush everywhere, that there was just no time in between.

The Broadway play Wicked was amazing! So much so that we went to Spamalot in Austin when we got back home, are planning to go to Avenue Q in April, and will go see Wicked again when it comes to Austin in August! Totally absorbing! I never thought this Texas Redneck would enjoy something like that, but I did, totally!

We went to 30 Rockefeller Plaza, to the Top Of The Rock Observatory, overlooking Central Park. And to the top of the Empire State Building at night. The view was outstanding.

And get this! No rude people were encountered anywhere, even when I was a total goober hick and ordered a Pastrami and Swiss, with mustard, on Rye. At a kosher deli. KOSHER! Erica and Elisson will understand that one. They just said "We don't have cheese here". And , of course, I realized immediately what I had just asked of them. Kinda like if I had asked for a bowl of Texas chili, with some beans in it. Podner, that just ain't done! Leastways, not in "true" Texas chili!

All in all, the New York trip is definitely one I will repeat in the future, but I definitely will pick my own restaurants next time. Dallas BBQ and Bubba Gump's were not bad, but, they were not specifically New York eats. On the other hand, I cannot recommend Trattoria dopo Teatro highly enough! Authentic Italian food, good beyond belief! We went there before we went to Wicked, and it was out of this world. I did get a "dirty water dog", a slice of "pie"(pizza), a bagel, and a Nathan's hotdog. I missed Papaya King, and New York Cheesecake, but maybe next time, huh?

Dear wife continues her weightloss journey, with a loss of an amazing 55 pounds! Mom is doing great, and boy is doing fine in Bootcamp. He made platoon leader the other day. I'm so proud of him for turning his life around!

Little Girl's birthday party is this weekend, and a co-worker is making a cake that is going to put Ace Of Cakes to shame! I'll share pictures when I get them downloaded.

I am going to New York City the first week of March. This is the Senior Trip my wife and I always go on with the seniors from her school.

This year, instead of a cruise, they all voted to go to NYC.

My wife managed to sneak me in on the trip.

We will be going to see a Broadway play while we are there.

We are going to see Wicked.

Defiantly, I am going to wear my own "Ruby Slippers".



Picture it! Black suit, black shirt, red silk tie and pocket square, and these shoes. All I need now is a walking stick with a brass skull atop it, and I am {thumbsnap}FAB-U-LOUS{/thumbsnap}!

(I ain't even gonna tell ya what my wife said when she saw my new shoes!)

Well, he did it! Boy's been at Basic Training in Ft. Knox, KY since Feb. 3rd, with Boot Camp actually starting on Feb. 13th. Dear Wife has received a couple of letters, and one form letter just to let us know he arrived safely.

The best part of the letters? The line saying he was "glad that Dad was as hard on me as he was", that he would never have survived the D.I.'s, otherwise. I laughed out loud at that! Hard? He ain't seen hard! Basic ain't over, yet! He'll appreciate all those "tender, loving, discussions" he and I used to have, you just hide and watch!

Also, he's bitching about how he got into a squadron of talkers, even in formation, and how they are all always getting in trouble for it. A couple of blanket parties will clear THAT shit up, quick, fast, and in a hurry!

Carry on, my once wayward son, carry on.

I Wanna Lead A Life Of Danger!

On February 3, 2009, my stepson, my wife's BoBo the Monkey Boy, will board a bus to Dallas, there to enter into one of the world's most effective fighting forces, the United States Army.

Kids! How in the world can they do things that anger and exasperate us so much, then turn around and do something that fills us with so much pride, our hearts almost burst?

I'm sure I don't know, but God Bless them for that ability! He goes with our love, our permission, and our blessing.

He has applied for Airborne Ranger Medic. Y'all wish him well, please. With that load, he's gonna need it!

Dear Wife made it through the holidays without screwing up on her diet! YAY! She has lost 31+ pounds since the first of December. She's doing so good with this, and I am so proud of her.

My mother-in-law had a Lap-Band procedure on the 30th, and she's doing well, too.

Y'all offer up a prayer, or good thoughts, or just an unspoken wish for these two special ladies in my life. I'd appreciate it!

Oh, and Mom's doin' GREAT! She's been to Vegas twice since the Open-heart surgery, and now she's plannng a trip to WDW with us this summer! She really appreciates all the prayers and encouragement y'all gave her!
