Could you elaborate on what fields/columns you use in your GTD spreadsheet? Do you have multiple tabs/sheets?
I am trying to implement GTD on my computer. I am playing with Steve Bell’s E-Dashboard GTD spreadsheet to see if it meets my needs. If I could use Google spreadsheets, then I would always have access to my lists, from work or at home.
Thanks,
Dave

I prefer the packets I add sugar to, but usually find only Kiwi Strawberry or Raspberry. The sugar ones, only in Cherry. Apparently, they’ve made these in the singles, too.
This summer has found another treat he can have. Orange slice is made clear for the Get Smart movie tie in. Hurray!
It’d be great if other companies followed their lead.

Out in western PA, Natty Ice is around 12 a case, Keystone around 14. We usually get Keystone since it tastes better. Sometimes\’s we’ll get Miller Lite ($18) if we feel like having some real beer.

Why should I subsidize channels that wouldn’t stand on their own merit -due to their quality or the lack of audience? Why should I subsidize all the spanish language channels? I don’t speak Spanish! Why should I subsidize ESPN, the most expensive of all cable channels, when I never watch sports? I am in favor of ala carte pricing. If the cable companies benefit, so be it. It will be worth it to get ESPN and the spanish language channels OFF MY TV!

I’m going to show my age here…my favorite musical moment from 2007 was going to see Genesis at Nationwide arena in Columbus a couple of months ago with my younger brother (couldn’t convince Rebecca that it would be worth the money!). It would’ve been great if they could’ve talked Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett into joing the gig, but Phil, Tony & Mike are the core I grew up with and they sounded fantastic after a 10+ year layoff. Their touring over the last 30 years has been greatly enhanced by having the same two guys join them for every tour – Darryl Struemmer on guitar, Chester Thompson on drums – and these five guys simply rocked the house that night! They cut a CD of the actual concert which I’ll cherish forever.

He is an a-hole himself, but he does speak the truth and end the end improves the restaurant. He does spend a great deal researching and finding the speciality that this failing restaurant needs to focus on. Simple marketing techniques. Question, do you think Gordon would have liked Charles from O’Briens who would listed to 700 WLW in the kitchen with his big chaw of Skoal tobacco in his mouth spitting in the gray trash container while cooking people their dinners? Or would he keep the Cheese bar? Seriously, have you ever been to another restaurant that has a cheese bar?

Products Fulfill Needs, Experiences Fulfill Desires
There’s a High Price to Low Prices
On pricing, marketers love using the excuse that their product is too expensive, when in fact they are just too lazy to communicate its value. Most of the time, products could (and should) be higher-priced.

It is not so much about the speed at which one crosses, but more about the distance due to the chosen path. Crossing directly instead of diagonally, regardless of the speed, is all I’m asking for. Pregnant women can pretty much do whatever they want in my book. Congrats to you and thanks for the comment.

I have become a geometrically correct crosser and probably take 2-3x longer than the average person crossing or make that waddling. The band has been on an extended hiatus. The brothers Wade and I are all enjoying marriage, parenthood and professional careers – all of which cut into band practice time. We still keep in touch and remain friends. There have been rumors about a reunion tour, but I would not want to steal the spotlight from Van Halen, so that may need to wait a little while. Plus we have no drummer. (Kyle, if you are out there, we’re putting the band back together. We’re on a mission from God.) Rest assured we still love music and will one day return to the stage – hopefully that will not be at the assisted living facility. Thanks for the interest Mr. DC Were you a fan of the band?

It was Sunday, Father’s Day, 17 June and very few people were there. Unfortunately, there were no events and due to lightning in the area they shut down the waterfall, but it was great anyway. I got great pictures of the place and some of the birds, butterflies, and of course my family. We look forward to going again soon to enjoy some of the other events scheduled for the summer and to check it out in the fall. Highly recommend this Garden to any and all, kids or not.

Thanks for finding the discrepancy in date. I do not maintain that site, but will pass along the information. For the record, the event date is the 11th of April. As for the price, I will pass your feedback on to the AMA board. I was not involved in the pricing of the event. I am just the guy who writes a blog and happened to come into contact with another guy who writes one, John Moore. The web creates strange and wonderfully unexpected connections. This is proof of that. For my part, I hope 36 bucks does not scare people away, because it should be worth every penny. Thanks again.

Go check the main AMA site- it has 2 different dates for the John Moore event. And, frankly, $36 for non-members is a good way to scare people away.

There is a proverb- that you have to give up power to gain it.
By open sourcing and sharing information- we all grow stronger. It’s a global economy- if we can’t help each other- we’ll never make it.
Thank you for contributing this valuable resource.
And remember- it’s no longer the Dayton Ad Club- unfortunately- they now insist on being called the “Greater Dayton Advertising Association”- as if there is now a Greater and Lesser Dayton.

On top of that- the quality of the spots generally suck. Combine that with the bad branding “a new day is dawning” and you have a huge waste of money.

They have repaired 6 flat tires for my wife and I over the last 3 years. Each time, there was no charge.
I have a Firestone literally 2 minutes from my house but after they charged me $24.95 to repair a flat tire and several hundred to attempt to fix an AC issue, i will NEVER go back. I pass this store every day and will continue to do so as long as Tire Discounters is in town.
As i speak of this, i actually just returned from the Fields-Ertl location where they are looking into a brake issue with my truck (from some work they did 4 months ago). I had requested a rotation and balance. Once again, they refused to charge me for their service. I still have to get back with them about the brake issue (due to the rain today, it was difficult to diagnose the problem), but they have vowed to fix it.
I can say that I will refer everyone that mentions the words “tires”, “brakes”, or “suspension” to Tire Discounters.

So many companies forget that the real sale comes after they have your money… esp. with the ability for anyone to post their horror stories on the web.

they don’t take their ads so seriously- and they keep pointing out that they offer things like free alignments- and Nitrogen inflation- the little things that make a boring business not so boring.
It’s good to see a company actually employee people who get the message- instead of getting in the way of it.

While others like Jones Soda have been doing this for a long time, Heinz is an American Icon. It is great to see major brands engaging with the consumer. The M&M’s campaign is another great example.

This is the “hand test” from “The Brand Gap” – a great book on branding (and on our booklist- https://www.thenextwave.biz/tnw/?page_id=50) which shows how well managed brands have a look and feel that’s distinctive and adds value.
Some ad agencies get this- a lot don’t.
Clients are even more terrified to step outside what is “safe”- just look at the buzz Heinz has gotten out of this little trick.

I would prefer to be able to customize my ketchup to get real mass customization (I wouldn’t call this Heinz project mass customization, but personalization — even if this is only important from an academic sense). And it demands great trust in the brand to believe that customers are so crazy about this brand to spend this premium.
Customizing Ketchup does not mean that they have to prduce it 1:1 for each customer, they just match you to an existing variant.
Look at custom My M&M’s. Much better execution of a similar idea … and they also do not customize the chocolate itself — but deliver real value.

Just as bad was the house next to it(on 48)that had a sign that said “It Rocks”….do they mean the house rocks when the trucks go flying past?
Either way, it is an interesting marketing concept,I just hope they lower the prices because personally I think $129,000 is asking a bit much given the location.
Glad to see that I am not the only one who found this sign interesting.Cheers!

Well said.
If the CEO/Quarterback had any fear of really losing (being held personally responsible for failure and losing house, home, etc.) the American business landscape would be totally different.
With the insane pay packages- there is no reason to worry- they are all set for life.
Raising interest rates on credit cards- no worry- health insurance – no worry-
etc…
we’ve created supermen (and women) out of mear mortals- who have no interest in being human anymore.
For example- paying the CEO of DP&L over a million a year- for what? How hard is it to run a monopoly? Can you imagine how few actual decisions he has to make? I mean- never having to worry about “should we have a sale today” – his receivables are more predictable than the sun coming up tomorrow.
Thanks for letting us all rant a bit.

I’ve been wanting to post about this to, but I think I would have gone right for the jugular. You make a good point about not blaming the poor individuals who have to get into those outfits and stand on the corner everyday. I feel sorry for them each time I drive by, which is two to three times a day for me.
I could be wrong, but I suspect that this particular “marketing tactic” is something unique to the company that owns these apartments.
Anyway, I just don’t get it. It’s almost as if there’s someone at the top level of that organization who is hell-bent on “keeping his clowns on the corner.”

Mon, 20 Mar 2006 13:54:24 +0000https://voice.wordpress.com/2006/03/17/gladwellcom-the-pitbull-paradox/#comment-91David,
It is about statistics. What makes Gladwell so interesting to me is not just his ability to debunk statistics, but more so his ability to challenge universal assumptions. The Pit Bull is important to his narrative, as the name of the breed alone tells a story in our minds. The Pit Bull is seen as a ferocious beast, one that evokes fear, not just by statistics, but by the images that are fed to us through “live, local, and late breaking coverage.” Gladwell looks at it from a slightly different angle, and has the gift of presenting his thoughts so that we can do the same. Debunking the statistics is just the surface.
Also, thanks for the correction on the Dayton law.
Thanks for voicing your opinion, and for that great Pizza Factory Pizza. Once I get a job, Pizza is on me!

Sat, 18 Mar 2006 11:47:51 +0000https://voice.wordpress.com/2006/03/17/gladwellcom-the-pitbull-paradox/#comment-89It’s not illegal to own a pit bull in Dayton- you just have to carry a half million dollar bond- which is supposed to stop idiots from owning them.
However- if one is taken in by the dog warden- it’s almost impossible to get it back.
but- the point of his post was nothing to do with pit-bulls.
It’s statistics- and how sample size can skew results- if the sample pool changes as it gets bigger.
So many statistics we accept as “fact” are tainted by the way the question is asked. We often interpret statistics to prove what we thought- as opposed to really understand what is going on.

This is what got me into blogs- and made me start the blogosopher seminars- as you know.
I had built a great search friendly site for my small ad agency- The Next Wave- and- while we got traffic- it was nothing compared to the results I started seeing once we added a blog. We were averaging 160 unique visitors a month- and in Feb- after 13 months of having a blog- we had over 2000 unique visitors- and Feb only has 28 days- this month- I think I’ll see over 3000 visitors-
and you know what gets us a ton of hits- a list of our competitors-
That’s right- most ad agencies build sites for themselves that don’t search or index properly- so I help people comparison shop.
Maybe the reason Relizon got bought- was because they STILL don’t get this whole Internet thing-
too bad they don’t sign up for Blogosopher.

It was hilarious to go to class and watch him act like a badass, then fall off his stool that he never got off of! Yeah, it happened. It wasn’t the material (that I don’t remember) that made it so bad, it was the fact that he would sit in front of the class at the overhead projector and sloppily lick a paper towel to erase it and then CHEW and EAT his own arm hair! Ask any KR grad that had the displeasure of sitting through one of his whisker buffets. All in all, the experience was pretty good. I mean after all, I met some of my closest friends during my 6 years of high school – just kidding (it was 7).

My high school (hint – Catholic high school in Kettering) was, and still is, a training ground for all good country-clubbing, back-stabbing, social climbers from the upper middle class white suburbia of Dayton. I just didn’t hate high school. I despised it.
I didn’t have fun until I went to college. And then I had too much fun.
High school should be a starting point toward adulthood and maturity. Not a stopping point.
Sorry for the rant, but it’s been a bad week.
With that said, anything related to math.

Andy Wade and I had a lot of fun with that guy, although I don’t know Mr. McFann would agree. Never learned anything from cutting stuff up except it looked less vivid than the pictures and smelled much worse. The squid was the worst. Nasty.

So then I picked Zoology as my college major and had to do more of the same, except with live frogs this time – killing them, cutting off their legs, and sending an electrical current through the leg muscles to watch how we could still make the leg move. Nice. Everybody suddenly wanted the lone redneck pre-med major in their lab group after that because he already had experience in these sort of activities.
I changed my major to communications shortly after that.

Unless of course, you are stuck on the track, in which case, here’s an idea – get the $%*# out of the car!

This unibrowed monstosity has ended up acting in many a comedy movie since, I’m sure (envision a 6-foot, dark-haired Janet Reno…you got the picture). The beast refused to speak English at ALL and gave us fake German names if our own didn’t translate well.

French? What was I thinking? I was able to sleep through most of it, so that makes up for it a little, but that class was by far the worst. Now Health class was a total waste of time, but we got to goof around so that redeemed it. My advice, have your kids take Spanish or better yet Mandarin. Just say non. Au Revoir.

( and probably will anyway) Adult channels were not “forgotten” but they were omitted. While it might make for some really funny comments, if that is what you most closely identify with, please do everyone a favor and just vote for Cspan. That is the only way it will get any votes. Hell, it might just win if this logic is followed.

Because I do not subscribe to cable, it would be unfair and possibley illegal for me to align myself with cable television. Therefore to avoid a serious fine and potential incarceration I choose the public humiliation of ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and the CW. Maybe one fine day I will break down and spend the 50 cents a day it costs for cable, but not today.

Thursday March 1?, 2006 at 12:29pm, you have a cold beer in one hand, tip-off of the 2006 National Championship is moments away and you are giddy with anticipation. And the best thing about is that tomorrow, the day after and the day after that it is the same thing. Life isn’t about instant gratification, so embrace March Madness because as my favorite college beer says “It just doesn’t get any better than this”

March Madness is so compelling. 64 (65 actually) teams playing in a national tournament, where you lose and you are gone. The first weekend of the tournament might be better than the finals. It is an unofficial holiday in most workplaces, where people come to work, but spend the day following the games. It is so much fun to fill out the brackets, pick the upsets, and of course for me, take Carolina to win it all, regardless of their record. Following the Cinderella’s, following the conferences, the individual stars, the last second shots. The only drawbacks are minor in scale: Jim Nantz and Billy Packer, who over-analyze and over-dramatize the entire event (bring in Dickie V.), that rediculous “One Shining Moment” song that they play over the montage of clips after the final game, and the fact that the last game is on a Monday night at 9:00. Small prices to pay for such a compelling sporting event. Long Live the Brackets! (College Football would completely rule with a similar but smaller format)

My mom: “Where did you get those?”
Me (with a straight face): “Jenny. Oh, and I found some.”
I drank the Nat almost exclusively through college (all 5 and a half years). I would occasionally swith up, but only if the bar I was at didn’t have “God’s Milk” as we called it. Now that I’m rich and famous, I still sometimes slum it and buy a sixer of the greatest college beer of all time. And I can usually count on Derek to have a couple of ’em around if i want to take a trip down memory lane.

The beer that 90% of its distribution is drank on the front porches of white trash and college keggers. There was Old Dutch ($2.99 a 12-pack); Old Style (imported from Chicago!!) Senior year, in preparation for drinkin’ in the ‘real world’, we graduated up to Natural Light. But the best beer for playing quarters (I could have made the varsity squad if they’d had one) was Schaeffer Light. Mmmm…smooth!

It was marketed as “The Beer with the Taste for Food,” which meant you could buy it, get blasted, and still have enough cash left for Taco Bell or Ramen Noodles. I wanted to write a jingle for Natural Light, and try to sell it to Anheuser Busch; not realizing that they probably spend more money on cleaning up the crap from the Budwieser horses than they do on marketing Natty Light. I fondly remember variations like Natural (regular in the Gold Can), Natural Ice, and the great debate about the Logo/Label Change of 1993. Once, my buddy the Kid was asked by his dad, who had grown tired of us drinking all of his PBR, “Son, what is a beer that nobody will want to drink out of my fridge?” With a straight face he replied “Natural Light.” Needless to say his dad’s problem of missing beer was not solved. In the final analysis I conclude that for my buck, (actually it’s about 50 cents) I’ll take a Natty sir. Longneck if you’ve got em.

TV dinner sales have skyrocketed since we now have 15,000 channels of nothing to watch while we consume bland, tasteless Hungryman wood au gratin with julienne cut foam rubber (desert – shoe leather souffle with crushed glass topping). Also stealing cable has taught millions the ins and outs of hooking up VCR’s, DVD players and ATARI. I only get on my PERSONAL COMPUTER if there’s nothing on tv. Ditto with the CELL PHONE, which works out well because laying in front of a tv, drunk, has somewhat hurt my social life. So as you can see, without cable tv, many of these other inventions would be obsolete, like my treadmill.

1. Without the microwave about 3/4 of all the restaurants we love would be out of business because they’d have no way to “cook” the
food they get that’s already been cooked somewhere else.
2. Without the microwave Dave would have died from starvation at age 7 – Stouffer’s pepper steak and microwave pizza couldn’t be made any other way.

Diceman was mid 80’s too. I was thinking about the Rodney special that has him, Tim Allen, John Fox, Uncle Larry, and others. Pure comedy gold!

He could deliver great one liners in movies, stand up or TV specials and never have to worry about changing his schtick because it was GREAT! Besides how many times can a dude withg bulgy eyes succeed in Hollywood? (insert Marty Feldman or Dave Bowman joke here)
By the way, I had the best possible way the scenario of the fight would have played out (Walker, Texas Ranger because roundhouse kick related deaths are up 14,000% since the Chuck norris was born) but I lost it and was tooo lazy to retype – sorry. Great topic

Personally I’m a Rodney fan, but to say who was the funniest at their prime, I would have to go with Mr. Chase. Caddeyshack, Fletch, Vacation = all classics. Chaddeyshack 2 shoud never have been made. Another great movie of Chevy’s was “Seem Like Old Times” with Goldie Hawn and Charles Groden. Chevy on Saturday Night Live was the best. His looks he gives after a line are the best. My favorite Chevy line when he’s talking to Judge Smails and Smails states “I’m no sloutch” and Chevy comes back with ” awe come on Judge, don’t sell yourself short, your a tremendous sloutch” = Priceless

I like your style but you have to realize that Chuck’s focus would betray him. Instead of concentrating on kicking B.A.’s ass he would be focused on all the jewelry and how he could accomplish a full body aerobic workout hanging from the multitude of chains. Thus allowing BA the much needed sucker punch and kick to the groin.
Who doesn’t love MacGyver? However, much like Chuckie the jewelry would cause Angus much pain and heartache. First the pain, while attempting to unclasp the 47,000 pieces around BA’s neck he would open himself up a BArrage rendering himself useless. The heartache would be the simple fact that he has failed. Which would cause a downward spiral into drugs and prostitution. Bye-Bye
This leaves us only vickie and to be quite honest, who really cares about vickie. She is a vintage 80’s model destine for the scrap yard regardless of who turns her off.

I don’t the average age of your fan base Bow Daddy but, i’m old enough to know that if there’s anything solid in this world, it’s the fact that Chuck Norris can kick the (pardon my French) SHIT out of any one of those sissys up there. Including that brain washing robot chick. Chuck would take Vickie, a bubble gum wrapper, and one of MacGyver’s paperclips and turn them into an accessory for The Total Gym. Hell, any guy his age that can get paid to workout with Christie Brinkley kicks ass in my book. Besides, we all know that Dan Marino and Chris Cornell could take all of them out in ” The Cage “. Shout out to my brother David Edwin “i love you” my friends “KID”, “DICK WADE”,” ZOGDOG”,”VOLMER”, nice to see “PEANUT” in da house too.

Thanks for making us your first post- and so here is your first comment.
The power of blogs is going to change big media- and a bunch of other things. While we teach people how to blog in a blosogospher seminar- we also try to get them the tools to see how the web will change our lives. Gone will be the days of being told how and when to consume our media- gone will be the days of retailers playing with price- and- advertising (my field)- will change totally.
Best of luck with your new blog- and a great choice of a name for it.
