The VIFF Collection is a unique and essential initiative that features early work by the next wave of leading Western Canadian storytellers. This permanent exhibition presents a unique opportunity for the public to enjoy free access to these works and enhance their appreciation of short forum storytelling.
The primary motivations for the VIFF Collection are:
Create a new exhibition space dedicated to films and filmmakers hailing from British Columbia
Provide the public with greater access to BC-produced cinema
Ensure a historical record of essential BC short films
The VIFF Collection collects notable short films from filmmakers who:
Won significant awards at previous editions of VIFF
Subsequently made feature films that achieved international profile and won accolades at festivals
Were successfully nominated by VIFF for Telefilm Talent to Watch funding for their first feature film
How to access the collection:
The VIFF Collection is available in the Media Lab located on the second floor of the VIFF Centre (1181 Seymour Street, Vancouver)
Note: The Media Lab is currently closed. Please check back for when we reopen the VIFF Collection and Media Lab.
