…or even most of 'em, sometimes. Encouraging words from Pew Research
By wide margins, the GOP is seen as the party that is more extreme in its positions, less willing to work with the other side to get things done, and less honest and ethical in the way it governs.

Over at Blue Gal, Fran's seeking guidance on whether it's off limits to point out that Newt Gingrich's latest wife is the staffer who was "...giving Newt blow jobs when he was married to someone else, at exactly the time he was leading the charge to impeach Clinton for exactly the same thing."

…Ruth Marcus remembers...
"The violation does not represent only a single instance of reckless conduct," a report by an investigative subcommittee concluded. "Rather, over a number of years and in a number of situations, Mr. Gingrich showed a disregard and lack of respect for the standards of conduct that applied to his activities."Repeat after me - "disgraced former Speaker Newt Gingrich."

…to the aural appendage of (insert diety here). Former Republican Congressman Pete McCloskey, stumping for Democratic candidate George Fearing in WA-4...
“There isn’t a race in America today where a Republican incumbent can’t be defeated by a decent Democrat.”Bonus quote, regarding Fearing's opponent "Doc" Hastings…
“They put him as chair of the ethics committee for a purpose. They knew he wouldn’t allow any investigation of Republicans.”

Newt Gingrich, who led the GOP takeover of the House in 1994, is now coaching Republicans on how to recapture the Senate. You remember, the guy who closed the federal government over a perceived personal slight and lost his speakership when his party started losing seats again in '98. This guy...
Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Speaker Gingrich during his term, including claiming tax-exempt status for a college course run for political purposes. Following an investigation by the House Ethics Committee, Gingrich was sanctioned for US$300,000 after the House Ethics Committee concluded that inaccurate information supplied to investigators represented "intentional or ... reckless" disregard of House rules.Heck, maybe we should be paying him to help them.

The Senate Ethics Committee issued a letter of admonition Thursday to New Mexico Republican Sen. Pete Domenici for his role in contacting the U.S. attorney in his state about a pending federal grand jury investigation into public corruption.I suppose an admonition is the next best thing to, well, to accountability.
