Hey Da! I was wondering who it was generating that hit from Kenya :) I thought it might have been Ken et al on the way thru to Tanzania. I’d forgotten that you were heading to the Big Af too! Be safe and bring me back a cool kanga or a scarf or something? :D
]]>I’ve written and said often that certain books have (literally and figuratively) saved my life. Those two novels rank among those. When I first read about and encountered Earthseed, I had problems (still do in parts) with trying to find harmony with my own faith (Buddhist). But I’ve come to understand that its me, not either teaching that has the disharmony. I’ll prolly be working on this my whole life! But then its the Journey not so much the Destination, right?
Like you, I read those books over and over again.
I feel that with Earthseed, Ms Butler has given a rare gift to the world. It challenges me. It makes me think. It makes me wish, hope and Dream. As I said in my post, I don’t think Earthseed was meant to stay just on the pages of a novel. She found a fierce Truth and through her characters allows us to partake.
Thanks for sharing here, I do apologize for the tardiness of the reply. I’m on CP time (thats Crazy People! hahaha) and things in my world happen when they will ;)
]]>When reading this books, the words spoke to me. I am an avid reader but I was so moved by these books that I continue to read them, often several times a year. The message and moral of the story keep me focused on what’s important. God will sort itself our if God has the ability to do so. God cannot sort us out because we are unwilling to do it ourselves.
]]>Take the statistics that came in in 2010 for the “Safest” and “Most Dangerous” cities of 2009.
Based upon the disposition of criminal cases for offenses committed in ’09 and tried-to-verdict or plead out by early 2010, the city with the lowest crime rate was Colonie, New York and the city with the highest crime rate was St. Louis, Missouri.
The racial demographic for the “Safest City in 2009” cited White/European-descended people at 96.62% whereas the city with the “Most Dangerous in ’09” Dubious Achievement Award”, St. Louis, was 49% African American.
Now, I for one believe that regardless of ethnicity, nationality or even parental circumstance-Both parents in the home, single mother, or even adopted by two homosexuals-Everybody is born with the potential to do well or to do poorly in life. However, because of the overwhelming amount of single-mother homes in the African American community the potential for inbreeding is extraordinary. If a woman has 3 children by at least two different “baby daddies” and she dropped out of school to take care of those kids, she lacks the education to pursue a lucrative career by which to support this household. Thus she receives “Food Stamps”-now known as Electronic Benefits Transfer or S.N.A.P. Card. And she gets Section-8/Housing Authority vouchers.
Now, take a predominately Black school district filled with kids from similar households. How are those kids going to know who other kids’ fathers are if they don’t know who their own are? By extension, how are they going to avoid sex with a half-brother/sister or cousin?
One stat. that hardly ever gets mentioned is the amount of African American couples in medium-sized communities who are denied marriage licenses because the blood tests because of a positive return for “Familial Traits”. The reason that marriage between close relatives is illegal is that inbreeding results in dangerous recessive traits such as low IQ and lack of self-control
The bottom line is, we’re not interested in “kicking people out” of the whole USA; we’re interested in creating an all-White enclave somewhere that already has a low non-White population such as the Idaho/Montana regions.
Call it “racist” or “intolerant” if you can’t get your head around the idea of self-determination and freedom of association, but we have every right to associate only with our own race and not have to put up with a bunch of inbred, ineducable violence-prone subhumans
