Regular readers of this blog (all twelve of you!) will have noticed that posting has been irregular at best over the past several months. I wish I could say that there is some significant reason for the lack of long, well-thought out entries, but the simple truth is that I haven't had much to say. I can't count the number of posts that I have left unfinished over the last year. In order to avoid the frustration, I have taken to posting brief remarks, music videos, and clips from other blogs. That is not, however, what I started this blog to do.
In addition to the lack of blogging focus I have suffered over the last year, there is a significant development in my life that will be demanding much more of my time and energy for the next two. I begin graduate school today. I am working on a Master's degree in a graduate program of such esteem that I can hardly believe they let me in. This degree has the potential to alter the course of my career, but it will require an unwavering commitment to excellence. So, I am all in. I am determined to get everything out of this program that it has to offer. That means setting all distractions aside.
So, with only a brief, over-the-shoulder glance back, I am saying goodbye to UncommonSense. I have no doubt that I will return to blogging some day, but for now, I have to leave it behind.
To my regular readers, Thank You. It has been great to have you along. God's blessings to you all.

UncommonSense
Of course, Rush Limbaugh is happy with his healthcare. Rush Limbaugh is a multimillionaire. Everything works well for multimillionaires. If Limbaugh had no insurance at all, he could pay for major surgery out of pocket and never notice the expense.
Tell you what Rush, the next time your Oxycontin habit causes you chest pains, put on a disguise and go sit in an emergency room all night the same way somebody with no health insurance would have to. For an added measure of authenticity, go to an understaffed inner-city hospital. Then, come back and give me your honest assessment.
This is hardly surprising. Democrats actually have policies. The Republicans have none. Tax cuts, deregulation, and tort reform are not policies. They are talking points.
Similarly, the GOP's lack of policy solutions is aggravated by its lack of a positive contribution to our country's political discourse.
You can't persuade people to see your point of view when all you have to say is, "NO," "HELL NO," and "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE????"

What an @$$hole
Rush Limbaugh, who went to the hospital with chest pains last week, says there's nothing wrong with health care in the United States.
Limbaugh was admitted to Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu on Wednesday afternoon after he experienced chest pains while vacationing in Hawaii. According to Limbaugh, doctors could not determine the exact cause of his pain.Oh, well, let's just stop trying to fix what ain't broke, then! If America's healthcare system works for Rush Limbaugh, who could find fault with it?
The right-wing talk radio king used the moment for a political shot at President Obama's massive effort to reform health care, saying he got the best medical care "right here in the United States of America." "I don't think there's one thing wrong with the United States health system," he said.
Of course, Rush Limbaugh is happy with his healthcare. Rush Limbaugh is a multimillionaire. Everything works well for multimillionaires. If Limbaugh had no insurance at all, he could pay for major surgery out of pocket and never notice the expense.

CNN Poll: Americans prefer Democratic policies
Despite the bruising battle over their health care reform proposals, congressional Democrats have maintained an advantage over their Republican counterparts on one key measure, according to a new national poll. So, after a summer and fall of full-tilt teabagging, we find the electorate pretty much where it was before on whether Democratic or Republican policies are better for the country.
A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Wednesday indicates that a bare majority of Americans, 51 percent, believe that the Democrats' policies are good for the country, with 46 percent saying that those policies would take the country in the wrong direction.
By contrast, 53 percent of people questioned in the poll say that the GOP's polices would move the nation in the wrong direction, with 42 percent saying Republican policies are good for the country.
"The numbers for both parties are virtually unchanged since late August, just before President Barack Obama's health care speech to Congress opened the latest round of debate on this divisive issue," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

All about da Benjamins
Michael Steele is get'in paid!!!
Michael S. Steele, Republican National Committee chairman, is using his title to market himself for paid appearances nationwide, personally profiting from speeches with fees of up to $20,000 at colleges, trade associations and other groups - an unusual practice criticized by a string of past party chairmen.Ain't nothin goin' on rent, baby! Holla!
[…]
"Holy mackerel, I never heard of a chairman of either party ever taking money for speeches," said Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr., RNC chairman under President Reagan and CEO of the American Gaming Association.
"The job of a national chairman is to give speeches. That's what the national party pays him for. We didn't have a rule book back then, but being national chairman was and is a full-time job," Mr. Fahrenkopf said.
[…]
Mr. Steele's office dismissed the criticism, saying the chairman was a highly sought-after speaker before being elected to lead the RNC, he's following all RNC rules, and is committed full time to growing the Republican Party.
