Ghandi came to me in a dream, and said, “This is an example of a WordPress page, you could edit this to put information about yourself or your site so readers know where you are coming from. You can create as many pages like this one or sub-pages as you like and manage all of your content inside of WordPress.” Then he turned my closing quotes around backward, grabbed a handful of fries from my plate, and left. It all happened so quickly…no wonder, when people think of Ghandi, they think “fast.”
P.S. When I awoke, my quotation marks were back to normal. Whoa…it seemed so real!
By the way, if you’d like to have a collection of early TrollPants verses printed in actual ink on actual paper, that’s a thing that can happen! Cows Wear TrollPants is available through Blurb.com, in a beautiful hardcover edition designed by Siri Elena and illustrated by Iain Collins. If you buy a copy and like it, let me know and I’ll write you a custom TrollPants poem of your very own to print out and stash in your glove compartment with your automotive registration and proof of insurance, so when the officer, subtly tricked into reading it instead of dispensing insurance-busting retribution, stops laughing long enough you can say, “Why, yes, officer, I do know where you can find more such whimsy!” thus placing her or him forever in your debt and perhaps giving them an innocent and totally nonbribery-related incentive to use discretion in deciding whether to ticket you for something that was clearly not your fault and which will never happen again, I swear.
A master of mirth and irreverence – this has made my day 🙂
Love your site Michael. Witty. I think I’ll add you to my blog roll.
Thanks, frayedges! I’m honored.
Okay, that’s clever. Avoidance! but clever.
Blog on … Enjoyed my visit. Thank you!
Excellent! 🙂
Hah. Gandhi must be visiting everyone’s dreams these days. I could’ve sworn I got one of those. Only he took my left sock. Not sure why.
The dude never explained anything. Some people think it made him mysterious and spiritual, but sometimes it’s just annoying.
Michael, I subscribed to your RSS feed after I discovered your site via a Facebook post from your cousin Micah. Thanks for bringing a delighted chuckle to my throat or a warming cockle to my heart almost every day!
By the way, I’m a cousin of your father’s and first saw your poetry when your proud gramma beamingly showed it off to me when I visited her last spring… nice to meet you!.
Thank you, Janith! It’s very nice to meet you, too. My grandmother came from such a large family (including one sister who, I understand, married into a different Johnson clan) that I pretty much assume every Johnson in the southwestern U.S. is a cousin of some sort. ;~) If you are a first cousin of my dad’s, that would make you and me first cousins, once removed. I think. Thank Micah for me! –Michael
I continue to enjoy your work and have named you to receive the “Very Inspiring Blog” award. Check my site for details in about an hour. – AB at Mild Musings of a Mediocre Man
Thank you very much! I appreciate both the kind words and the honor.
