As a Jamaican woman who celebrate my African Ancestors, I have done extensive research that led me to conclude that All Goddesses around the world had origins in Africa, they may be called Athena, Diana, Freya, Kahli Ma, Lakshmi and Hecarte.
I also find similarities with the Hindu Nine nites festival and our Nine nites of celebrating the dead in Jamaican culture. As you said, we need male/female energies combined to bring about balance in the world just as in times before women were revered as Divine mother who brought life and men knew our worth and we worked together!
