About the Blog
My name is Laurelin Evanhoe, Laurie for short. I am a PhD candidate in the Field of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. My dissertation research on bee community ecology and bee population biology takes me each spring to the East Mojave Desert in Southern California.
For now, this blog is an outlet for all of the cool natural history notes, anecdotal observations, and general bee musings that arise as my research progresses. The main focus is decidedly on native bees — Apis mellifera gets more than enough attention elsewhere!
My hope is that in time and with luck, this blog will become a central place at which native bee biologists can gather to discuss — and celebrate! — our favorite research organisms and the fascinating, wild lives they lead.
Unless otherwise noted, all photos and video on this site are by me (Laurelin Evanhoe).
Glad you dropped by!
